Painting Wooden Planter Boxes
Comments (4)To clarify: Do you mean the Cedar boxes were painted with a Redwood stain? Asking cause our fence put up two years ago was a choice of cedar or redwood...looked like redwood and that is what the paperwork said....we sealed ours with Kilz and then painted to match the rest of the fence around the house. We had gone half with the neighbor and they were made that the wood was warping...saying we watered too much. Of course they did not paint their side. Now we are replacing the back fence and the man giving estimates said the fence was not cedar or redwood, but a softwood painted to look like redwood....See Moresealing/protecting wooden planter?
Comments (4)Beautiful bench!! I had something similar to yours made by my father-in-law, He said he used a pruning sealer to seal the inside of the planter. These can be found at any nursery, He also used a weed barrier to line the inside. I would be afraid of the plastic withholding too much heat and not enough oxygen. The weed barrier can also be found at any nursery, just be sure to ask for the pro.used by the nursery's themselves. It will allow water to drain, oxygen to penetrate, and keep the media in place. The pruning sealer is extremely flammable so be careful.Good Luck ! I know however u chose to seal, and display you planter will be the envy of the whole neighborhood!...See Morewooden chair planters
Comments (13)A few years ago I purchased an old chair with the intention of making it into a chair planter. I just started working on it yesterday. (I know that's terrible, just too many things going on.) Anyhow I noticed that the previous owner had used barb wire under the seat to help secure the chair. It sounds dangerous but it's going to be a planter and not a chair that a person would sit on. I actually like the rustic look that the barb wire gives it. I'll try to post a pic when I finish the project....See MoreIndoor/Outdoor Glass Display Case Planter
