the joy (and shame) of buying trees.

I simply couldn't help myself, coming across a lovely Turkish hazel (corylus colurna) for mere pennies (well around $15 for 3metres of tree)...but oh, the seeping shame, looking at my tiny, tiny seedlings, betrayed by a greedy plant gardener who JUST COULD NOT WAIT. I only went to the nursery to buy a couple of heleniums.

Have stashed the new behemoth at the front of the house so it doesn't cast it's looming shadow all over my mini saplings (and the size discrepancy doesn't look so glaringly comical) Destined for the woods so the seedlings will be restored to glory (in my eyes) after the weekend).

Already snivelling at the prospect of irrigation (or water I have to hoist out of the land-drain on the end of a bucket).
