need help with picking bedroom color-please
Comments (9)I have posted some pictures of my master bedroom furniture that I hope will help. Below is a link that shows a dining room that has been painted in the Hot-Crossed Bun paint that is the middle paint color on the sample. After seeing this on a wall I am wondering if this is going to be too dark in my MB? I guess I am not seeing the "creaminess" that I was hoping for-however I do know that pictures can be misleading. Thanks for any help in advance. http://img.hgtv.com/HGTV/2006/01/25/hdsf702_aft2_diningroomafter_j.jpg Here is a link that might be useful: master bedroom furniture...See MoreIs this bedroom set too massive for my bedroom? Comments (51)Believe it or not, decent looking ceiling fans exist. On every design show I've ever seen they're the first things to be thrown out, but I have them in every bedroom. Mmm slight draft at night without the sound of floor fan... I pspent no fewer than 18 weeks looking (off and on) for a "pretty" one to go in my master. I have lived with a 4 poster bed. My experience - unless you have really high ceilings, and I'm talking like 10 ft, and a sizeable room, it will turn your space into... tiny. Once upon a time in a previous life I thought I had a big bedroom until I put a poster bed in there. I like your computer nook. I always wanted a space like that, which I could separate from the rest of the room with some romantic drapery tied back. I might force that idea on my formal dining room. :) beds/headboards coverin ga window do bother me. I don't like anything to cover a window (couch, table, or otherwise) -- but that's just me. And if it came down to a queen bed, or covering that window, sure - the window would get covered! We have single panels on our two bedroom windows, mostly because they're skinny and it looked silly to me to have two panels. If you need to cover the window, something that seems to help (at least when I've seen it done) is to pull the bed away from the wall a foot or so. Then you can go with two panels, and it looks kind of intentional instead of "didn't have space." Something else to keep in mind with blocking windows -- does the sun come directly in such that it would fade your bedding over time?...See MoreNeed help with bedroom paint colors to go with this quilt.
Comments (11)I went through this same process for my kitchen, so the colors I looked at are fresh in my mind. I considered taupe colors than leaned gray, tan and beige (when I write leaned I mean every so slightly relative to each other.) Here is what I sampled: BM - Revere Pewter HC-172, leans gray, but picks up warm and even slightly green in different lights BM - Manchester Tan HC-81- leans warm beige BM - Temporal Spirit 965, slightly darker than Manchester Dan BM - Cedar key 982 & smokey taupe 983 - going a little tan All beautiful colors, recommended by several as just "nice colors" that work in many situations and look good in many lights. The idea of a blue accent wall is sweet. I would be careful though, pick a gray that has a little blue in it versus a pure blue. Blues can be hard (what color isn't to me :) A quick look at the fan deck - BM gentle gray 1626 or pelican gray 1612 - could be beautiful, but I have no experience with those colors in particular I just wanted to give you an example....See MoreWall color for antique, golden oak bedroom furniture?
Comments (18)We have Lexington dark oak victorian style bedroom furniture, so I definitely feel your pain trying to choose a complentary paint color. Our bedroom was painted a version of off white for quite a few years, took a back seat to other rooms mainly because I really couldn't find a paint color I liked that would look good with the dark oak. When I used the SW Blonde in my LR/DR, I painted a a bit in our MBR to try it with our furniture. Loved how worked with our furniture, so problem solved as to what color for our master. The Blonde seems to be a completely different color in our MBR than in our LR/DR, mainly due to different lighting. If you don't want to go with the gold tones, I would try a sample of the green as pictured in mclarke's post. That green color was one of the many colors we sampled for our LR/DR before going with SW Blonde. Please post a pic when you paint. Would love to see what you choose....See MoreUser
