I am sorry to tell you that it looks dead. Rocks on the bottom of container don't do anything. Container without drainage hole (looks like it is a glass bowl?), peaty soil, and overwatering are sure killers of succulents.

Rina....Sorry to disagree, it doesn't look dead, it is dead. Hopefully you will try again with a new plant, if you do, search in the search box above for gritty mix, as commercial C/s mixes spell death for 99% of c/s plants when combined with any type of pot and inexperienced growers....but you will learn to overcome inexperience :)

Replanting it twice in 5 days may have been too much for a plant w/ few leaves, especially if it was already ailing even if it was into 'soil meant for succulents'. Sorry.

Other people have already noted that a layer of rocks at the bottom and pots without drainage are a no-go, but also: when repotting a succulent, one should wait 5-7 days before watering. The plant and roots need time to recover before getting wet, or they'll just rot.

I do use commercial succulent soil mix, but not before mixing it with perlite (usually 50/50). Many succulent enthusiasts can tell you from experience: bagged soil is often just too darn water-retentive, no matter what it says on the outside!

lizy, none of the comments were to criticize you as grower, we just pointed out obvious and answered your questions. Yes, it could have been already dying from the store...many times dead-looking plants will recover, many times they don't. We commented on what we can see in photo you posted. I have over 200 succulents and still manage to kill some...just as lg said above.

I have to say... Experience is the best teacher.. I guess you just had to learn the hard way.. I find it pretty strange that succulent soils bought from stores sometimes just don't do much good.. May give more advice when I have more time.

If you want long term success, I would start with a better soil. There are plenty of special recipes circulating around the forum.

By the way, if this is all kind of confusing, don't worry! Everyone has to start somewhere! In fact, I am kind of new to this myself.

Anyway, you will want to start with a soil that will hold up for a while- meaning you will not have to repot for a while. Some handy ingredients will be pumice, turface (or oil dry/chicken grit), crushed granite, perlite, and maybe some pine bark. Some of these ingredients can be hard to find (blame tapla), but trust me, it is worth it!

There are a few advantages to this kind of a soil. It is very hard wearing, and it won't break down quickly. It allows water to drain very well, and that in turn prevents rot, which sadly takes out a lot of plants.

But what I really like about this soil is it is very much suited to succulents in look and style and there is no need for top dressing.

(By the way, I really think you had the right idea of drainage, you just didn't go about it quite properly :) )
