So I took a little plane ride back in March...

about 19 hours and 11 thousand miles worth...It has been number one on my bucket list for at least 37 years...the first day I met my future husband he said I reminded him of a little Koala Bear...I didn't even know what a Koala Bear was...I became obsessed with them...did our first sons nursery in Koala Bear wallpaper and had over 100 stuffed ones on shelves...saw them at The San Diego Zoo and when they were on loan to the Atlanta Zoo...but it wasn't enough...I wanted to hold one...Well they don't let you do that anymore but I got to give him a good rubdown!
so in March my two besties and I flew to Sydney...It was the most awesome 9 days...beautiful people, beautiful city...If you ever get the chance to go...by all means GO!! In nine days there I never saw a BLUE LIGHT (Police)...felt very safe...rented an AirBNB apartment and just shopped and ate and basically had a ball!!
I'm the one rubbing his most soft little body...he coulda cared less...LOL

Comments (44)Thanks, Chicka!! This is his life-long dream, and as much as I joke about it, I'm truly happy for him. :)))) DH took up the plane for his 2nd flight yesterday! He flew for about an hour and 15 minutes. Then he found out from the crop dusting place just north of here that he can park his plane there! So much more convenient, and he has a runway at his disposal - as long as he "keeps out 'the way of the crop dusters," said the owner. LOL He made his 3rd flight when he moved the plane over there from where he landed it down the road earlier in the day. He said he had a rough landing thanks to the warm air conditions, so he'll refrain from making afternoon flights from now on. WHEW! :D He's already talking about going this morning. I'm plugging my ears and "lalala-ing"! LOL I looked over and saw the ol' neighbor guy watching him fly yesterday morning. He flopped his arms in amazement and disgust - at technology as a whole. LOL!! I was able to get 2 fuzzy pics (zoomed all the way in) and a movie before the batteries went dead on the camera. Here is my Beech Johnd And last but not least the pics I took today of the late drop "L.O." Plus the green trunk I saw the other day, but can't seem to see well in the picture I posted. I keep looking at the buds stubborn but there. I look like an idiot insisting it's going to leaf out, but I see signs it will and when you see the first of the 2 pics here, you will see what I mean. I was ready to rip it out and get another tree, but it isn't dead. The pics with the envelope in the background were taken about an hour ago. Here is the trunk pic from a couple days ago, you can barely see the green right below the slight scrape It isn't as noticeble now on the tree. the green is best seen at the bottom of the scrape. When you see those buds on todays pics don't you think it is going to leaf out? I saw my dead one with no buds. I am wishing you the best of luck and will continue to follow your story as well. Here are some pics from the past couple days. We just finished the second day of riding. Lovely weather today . Did 50K yesterday and today. DH was riding quite fast in front today and missed a turn. I didn't realize it till a bit had passed. We waited and waited in town and he finally showed up ! What a worry I had for a couple of hours ! All is well and he won't ride so far out in front and alone again . start of the ride at the hostel in Vienna on the 30th: some of the many riders...we are 50 strong ! It includes 3 folks who are riding with their arms as the " wheel turners...a bras ...as the French say. A wheel chair like affair for one and the other two have their legs braced out in front of them...and use cranks to turn the tires..all 3 had polio as children. the center of Tulln, yesterday where we spent the night in another hoste..it is the rose city...I didn't get enough pics of the roses...they are astounding !! And the fragrance... DH all set to start his first tour ! Tulln is also noted for their strawberry fields ...yum !! new friends at dinner tonight. the remains of one of the 2 Flammkuchen...it was fantastic ..arugula, pesto and prosciutto the Danube path...Velo 6 picture from the dorm roon where we are staying tonight in Klems Austria. the wide and beautiful Danube. that's enough pics ;) WIll keep you posted as able. Comments (41)Everyone, I am really NOT attacking Glenda...just what she did. I know she's a great person and grandmother and I loved reading her posts and seeing her pictures of her cruise with her grandson. Maybe I went overboard, but as I stated, I was in an accident three yrs ago with a brand new driver. He was with his mom and they were practicing in a residential area. The speed limit was 25 mpr. I saw his car stopped at the stop sign. I had the right of way. Just as I was about to pass his car, he pulled out in front of me. For some unknown reason, he didn't see my car. He was a very sweet child with an equally sweet mom. They wanted to pay for the damages to car without us calling the police or reporting it to the insurance company because the boy would not be able to have a permit until he was 18 plus his insurance rates and his parents rates would go up so high. However, it became evident that I needed to get to the hospital, so an ambulance was called. My 3 yr. granddaughter was in her car seat in the back and Thank God wasn't hurt. When I got to the hospital, they had to do an emergency hysterectomy because I was bleeding so rapidly. (the lap part of the seat belt hit me in a way that caused a rupture to a small ovarian cyst I'd had for a while. Because of all the blood, a total hysterectomy had to be done. Now, all this and both cars were going the speed limit of 25 mpr. No one "expects" an accident. It just happens and there is NO WAY we can control it. I don't mean to squash anyone's fun, but let's do fun within the law and remembering that other people are on the same roads that you are on and you could possibly be putting others in danger. I guess I also don't think that this is the same as eating a grape in the grocery store. I almost lost my life due to the the rupture and I also had a treasured grandchild in my car. Sorry if I offended anyone..that wasn't what I intened to do, however, it makes me see red when I hear someone say that they took all precautions and no accident could possibly have happened. That was it, Featherdale. It's a nice little park. When we were there they had a crocodile. Was it still there? It was enormous and scary.
We didn't do NZ either. We went to Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns in the north. That was 10 years ago next month.
So glad you got to go and see and do so much. Great picture of you and your travel companions. We rode a railway too, then took a tram down, as I recall. Did you do that too? Maybe it was the Kuranda Scenic Railway.
Thanks for posting about your trip. It allowed me to reminisce about our wonderful trip.
