I Think I Made a few totems, What do you think?
Comments (13)I made all nine in two days. Maybe I do something different. I stack and glue the pieces all at once. I don't have the patience to wait for each piece to set...the tall thin one is my favorite. I found Candle sticks and the mini vases on top at one yard sale Saturday Morning and had it put together as soon as I got home. If you want to see them close up click on the picture and I have singles of each close up in the album on Picasa. I must confess the red birdbath is simple clear glass that I have painted with glass paint. I wanted to try my hand at revers painting on glass. I am please with the results. I may have to make another painted one I have lots of clear glass but color sure makes a statement. When I started I was only gonna make one or two, Because I had no interuptions I just kept going! I wanted One of each color of the rainbow! LOL They will all be displayed in one Bed, held in with sand then Mulch. I also found Brand New White vinyl edgeing to use but I want to paint it first or at least wash it with some color. I am worried about Hurricane season. LOL Here are some pics of the bird bath. From Glass Totems From Glass Totems Not happy with inside pics..I will be sure to post pics when I bet them all out side. Thanks ya'll!...See MoreWhat kind of animal makes a hole like this and what would you do?
Comments (13)WL, "Any special tips for catching them?" Just don't handle them. It is my understanding that armadillos can carry Leprosy. For that reason, and safety in general, any live catch traps should have protection for your hand at the carrying handle. I suspect that the NWS5300 Universal Trap with built-in nose cone trap would be suitable for armadillos. However, several other traps, like the Wickencamp Coon Trap (Model 302) or the Safeguard Pro Raccoon Trap, are suitable for armadillos. For traps with a rollover release, you should anchor the trap to prevent the captured animal from rolling the trap over and escaping. I lost several large gray squirrels before learning to attach an anti-rollover bar (a short piece of concrete re-bar) to my Havahart traps. If you are trying to catch an armadillo, you might want to use TreeBerry paste bait. If you prefer not to use a live trap, you could try a repellent like Whole Control. I have never used it, so I can't attest to its effectiveness. If all else fails, you could always try "the old reliable" Juicy Fruit gum. Comments (43)"First i suggest you take a couple of courses in human psychology." Your inability to hold this conversation reflects not on my education. "Half of humans will love to a fault almost and the other half will hate to a fault." Dogs have done the same. If you doubt that nurture has an effect on dog behavior, then you're not observing close enough. "If this is instinct it is the antithesis of any known explanation of instinct." I've not said that humans or dogs act purely from instinct. I've called into question the analysis that calls human emotion valid and also dismisses the possibility of animal emotion out of hand. "Do you really beleive you stumble through life without ... " I've not said that either. Read more carefully. I've said that it cannot be proven. How an animal (including humans) reacts to a stimulus is definitely driven in part by instinct. Some other part is based on life experiences (tell me about your childhood...). Nonetheless- 2 children raised in the same exact environment may have 2 different "personalities" and react differently. The same can be said of animals. The abused dog may be agressive or meek (same as the child). The culture (or household) that a person is raised in shapes their reactions and personality (as well as how they feel about any given situation)- same can be said of an animal....See MoreSharon McKenzie
