It's a cold, windy, gloomy day here....we even had snow flurries! Tonight I'm going to have a pork sandwich and a salad......easy, easy!

Chicken corn chowder with saltines. Sunny today, but wind and rain coming at us. Peas are growing, but temps aren't warm enough to plant annuals yet, and we're not big on lettuce/spinach regularly to bother but we should plant some chard. I'm weary of kale.

But I do remember fondly my grandmother's thick sandwich of fresh leaf lettuce and Amish sweet cream butter on homemade bread. Ratio of ingredients 1:1:2

Just finished watering the pots on the patio as well as the in ground tomatoes and then the flower border along the front walk, where today I replaced several petunias that did not flourish. And tonight we are celebrating my brother's birthday ( and my sons' inabsentia) at 5 Crowns, an English restaurant that features prime rib and Yorkshire pudding and is now owned by Lawrey's. My younger son's birthday is today, as is my brother's. My older son's birthday was yesterday, as was my brother's-in-law. There is a chance elder son may join us, but I think he will stay home to help his wife prepare for an open house tomorrow afternoon for his birthday. I am bringing birthday cakes for them, which is the recipe the whole family likes for birthday and without any frosting, please. (Whaaaat?) They can take them home to enjoy, and we will order a yummy dessert from the menu!

Snow flurries!? ugh. It's chilly here this evening after a sunny day. Altho throughout the afternoon I couldn't make up my mind if I was hot or cold. One minute I needed a coat, the next I was sweating. Drove a neighbor to a greenhouse to get some flowers to plant her containers, came home and then drove my Mom to a different greenhouse to buy the begonias she always plants in front of her fence. We ended up at a second greenhouse where she bought three large hanging boston ferns which are gorgeous and some plants for her garden urns. I bought two flats of annuals, which I don't want to put out right away as we expect an overnight temp of 35 Sunday night or Monday morning. But I was afraid the plants would all be sold if I waited.

Anyway, I fried sausage, potatoes and onions, and had corn as a veggie. Then Raspberry sherbet swirled with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

It's been a mostly sunny day here, about 65° and breezy. We went out for Lake Erie Perch, as usual on Friday! I don't know if we will bother with flowers this year. The kids put them in for me if I buy them, and they enjoy doing it, but DH killed our bushes a couple of years ago by pruning them too hard. Last year was a year to see if they would survive. This year they need to come out. When he will get around to doing it is anyone's guess. There is no point in putting flowers in if they are going to get smashed taking the bushes out.

I did a chicken cacciatore with pasta. Not very hungry. I haven't had much appetite lately which is good, I am loosing some weight. My husband has lost 30 lbs since the flood. We are now referring to time as BF or AF. Before flood and After flood.

Raven, grief and anxiety are real appetite killers. I am so sorry that you and Mr. Cajun are still in turmoil. I'm thinking about you!

It was chicken here, too, seasoned and cooked on the rotisserie. I sauteed some zucchini and yellow crookneck and nuked a sweet potato. Used a little coconut oil and cinnamon on it, which was great!
