My roses are waking up!!!
Comments (9)Can't wait, blooms are right around the bend. Lots of tender new growth making an appearance. Darned cold likely to nip them! The angle of the sun also heralds the oncoming onslaught of leaves and bloom, what we have all been waiting for this long, cold winter. Birds are getting restless, pairing-off protocols in progress. Even the smell of the air is just different. Ditto on the puttering, lists are made to be misplaced, why do today when you can put it off 'til tomorrow? I love to just ponder and goof off amongst the great company of my roses. With the new school of thought on leaving rose debris underneath the plants, I just chop prunings up real small and leave them as mulch, no bagging. Recycling rocks! I love spring!!...See More'Metis' & 'Wasagaming' and other z-4 roses
Comments (8)Thanks everyone for all your information, and Judith, your photo is beautiful!. gen-I like the idea of planting at least some zone 3 roses, and will reccomend that to my freind. Has anyone known or grown these roses- 'Mme. Georges Bruant' pickeringnurseries.com sells it and their photo is lovely. 'Furstin von Pless' a cupped shape white rugosa that is listed as having a strong fragrance. or 'White Roadrunner' a groundcover rugosa that also is listed as having a strong fragrance. I will look for photos of Louise Bugnet. Thanks Lux....See MoreOBF Wake Up It's Spring!!! April swap
Comments (91)Hey everyone! Remy! Love your video. That lilac did look super tough to be blooming for being so little. Michelle, So sorry to hear about your migraines! They are the worst!! I received my package from you today though :D In my package was: Iris: Maid of Orange (LOVE IT!) Iris: Batik...so pretty! Aloe baby Tropical Milkweed 3 mystery daylilies ( I can't wait to see them flower!) Will be planting them tomorrow for my mother's day garden day! :) And I received a beautiful card, miracle grow singles (I've never seen these before! They look way more easy to use than the big boxes I buy), and last but certainly not least the absolute cutest cactus I have ever seen!! I am not a cactus person, but this tiny little baby cactus is on a magnet flowerpot! And its alive. I love it!! Thank you Michelle!! everything was just wonderful! I hope you feel better soon! And everyone have a terrific weekend. Talk to you later! vina...See MoreCat waking me up early on weekends
Comments (8)I agree, cats train people or try in novel ways. Water spray works well for undesirable behavior, as well as a firm NO. They usually understand that if followed by locking up in a separate room, basement or garage where they can do no harm and you can't hear them. Mine tried to wake me up at 6 after I started feeding her as soon as I got up. When I wanted to sleep later, she would fly onto the bed and howl, climb on my chest and breathe in my face. I stopped that by scolding her and no longer feeding her as soon as I get up. She's more patient now. When she wants something from me she gets on her honches and does patty cakes with her front feet. This is really hard to resist so she has trained me in her way but she is not that annoying any longer. She waits quietly until she sees me stir and gives me a vocal greeting and few happy scratches on her scratching board. Hope you can find a way to outsmart your kitty....See Morelucillle
