Sometimes, I'm glad I didn't follow my instincts!
Comments (9)Well, maybe it will eventually get some leaves on it. Now that it's out of my face, it doesn't really bother me. And like yours, Ines, mine had only the little air roots all over it and the (formerly inactive) peduncles. I do cut the long leafless stems off my pubicalyx, after they are mature enough that it's obvious they didn't produce any peduncles. It's already so huge and in-the-way, I can't afford to let it take any more unnecessary space! Jo, I was disgusted with my reverse kerrii this spring because you could hardly see any variegation at ALL in the new leaves, so I whacked it back and took two short cuttings and put them in a "public" pot outside by my GH, figuring if they burnt to a crisp or died, at least I was making an effort to make it go in another direction. The two cuttings rooted quickly and I did lose one leaf on each, but then both are now putting out new growth with obvious variegation. AND the main plant put on a new growth point back towards the soil line that had more obvious variegation. I'll be very excited to bring in the two new cuttings and put them in with the old plant and see how they all look after a winter in the GH. Comments (9)Wow Jane, I am tired just reading about what all you did! Sounds like a wonderful time and lots of work and effort on your part. What a large group to entertain! So nice that your DH helps you with the decorating. Mine does not help with the inside at all. I carry everything up from the basement including the trees, all the boxes, ladders, etc. The only thing he does outside is put a blow mold Santa on our mailbox, although this year, he did run an extension cord from the backyard for some of the lights as they kept tripping the breaker this year! Again, getting everything down out of the rafters, off of the shelves, and put up is up to me! Sorry, I just needed to vent a little. I get a bit envious when I hear of other DH's that help with decorating. Anyway, looking forward to your pix. TFS, Candy...See MoreIt's not done but I'm moving in!
Comments (75)Thanks, once more, to all for the kind comments. Learningguru, I haven't actually found the dishes for Seder yet, but things are progressing! :) The tiles are Architerra-NW, (Seattle) which I bought through Mission Tile West. They list a store in Mountain View. I'm in So.Cal. Like all handmade tiles, part of the charm is a certain amount of variation in color and shape, but, unlike many, the quality of the bisque is fantastic. I do have a master tile setter, but I don't think anything broke on the saw, and even the crackle glazed ones didn't chip. He was able to cut a tiny L shape out of one, matchsticks, and even a little curl. He also cut miters and veneers for the window casings. That's a testimony to the quality of the tiles as well as the man making the cuts....See MoreIt's done! It's done!! It's done!!! It's done!!!!
Comments (13)Ah francy, francy.....that's mighty fancy! LOL. I leave the computer for a while and come back and lord love me you finished your apron! I LOVE your pictures....seeing the project makes this forum so much fun. Your sewing area looks very very familar...like my own... threads and "snippits" all over the table, across the floor to the ironing board and back, never mind those I wear on my clothing when I sew. This apron makes me think you should grab some of those scraps, tie them loosely in your hair with a big knot to the front, don that apron and be standing at your lovely stove banging a wooden spoon in a pot when DH arrives home tonight....You could be standing there ala Lucy....saying things like "Now look Ethel, Ricky won't believe me for a minute it took all day to make this thing..... and no housework done. I've got some serious 'splaining to do!"...... If I lived closer I could be your friend Ethel....what a duo we'd make! Now apron one is done.....get on with your "cherry" project! No wait, first go and BUY MORE fabric......only look at the price this time. Budster....See Morededtired
