Denise, I'd leave it, I have a long stem on my Kerrii reverse, probally 3-4' long and untill very recantly it had nothing on it but a couple penduncles and so far no buds but I am getting some very nice looking leaves, one is a perfect heart shape, more so than the others.
I'd take a picture but it's raining and my Kerrii is in the shade house.

How funny, my kerrii has a 2 or 3 ft long mostly bare stem too, growing straight up, it has nodes and a few non-active peduncles, but mostly it is just covered with little half inch roots. I had been thinking of cutting it off too. I have a pubicalyx Pink Silver doing the same, only this stem is up against wood paneling and it is actually attaching to the panels, like ivy does...I know I should pull it off, but I would love to see what happens!

My pubicalyx has long bare stems, I just wrap around the pot and pin them.
Ines, some of the vines were attaching to a croton tree but I pulled off to bring it in the house during the storm.

Denise, I had some stems without leaves on my obovata for months. As soon as I gave them something to attach to they grew leaves within a week's time. Maybe you just need to give it something to climb.

Well, maybe it will eventually get some leaves on it. Now that it's out of my face, it doesn't really bother me. And like yours, Ines, mine had only the little air roots all over it and the (formerly inactive) peduncles. I do cut the long leafless stems off my pubicalyx, after they are mature enough that it's obvious they didn't produce any peduncles. It's already so huge and in-the-way, I can't afford to let it take any more unnecessary space!

Jo, I was disgusted with my reverse kerrii this spring because you could hardly see any variegation at ALL in the new leaves, so I whacked it back and took two short cuttings and put them in a "public" pot outside by my GH, figuring if they burnt to a crisp or died, at least I was making an effort to make it go in another direction. The two cuttings rooted quickly and I did lose one leaf on each, but then both are now putting out new growth with obvious variegation. AND the main plant put on a new growth point back towards the soil line that had more obvious variegation. I'll be very excited to bring in the two new cuttings and put them in with the old plant and see how they all look after a winter in the GH.

Congrats on the budding peduncles of your Kerrii, Denise. My Kerrii just does nothing for two years now!!! Wish I knew how to make it bloom :-(

Mine doesn't bloom either, Xuan...I'm dying for either that or obovata to bloom (I finally got a peduncle on obovata, but nothing yet).

Denise, do you have a pic of your blooming stem? I too would leave it be. Glad you decided to tuck it away instead of cut it off - it rewarded you pretty nicely!

I have all 3 types (variegated, reverse, and regular), and my variegated does pretty much nothing, the regular grows fast, and the reverse grows slow but steady. Denise, I had the same problem as you with my reverse. When I first got it, I couldn't even tell it had variegation...then after putting it outside this season, it finally started to grow leaves that have gorgeous variegation. I wonder if it will continue to do this when I put it back inside!

Xuan, it might be a matter of more light for kerrii, and age of the plant. Mine is pretty big but still in a smaller pot, very rootbound, and also this summer I put it in a much brighter spot, and now it is ready to bloom for the first time.

Xuan, I had my kerrii for a couple years before it started to really grow for me. I had trouble figuring out how to water it. It would put on some new growth, then it would lose some leaves to yellowing. It had started to do better for me by the time I got my GH, but it wasn't until it went into the GH that it really took off. It seems to like the high light at the top of the GH, but the leaves look a little washed-out. I have two others I grow in my sunroom, which gets a LOT less sun, but it's bright in there all day from reflected light. One is a rooted cutting that's about 2 years old off my main plant, and it has 3 peduncles, one just bloomed recenlty. Probably more because it came off the blooming mother plant. The other is a veined clone and it has put on a LOT of new growth this summer, but no signs of peduncles. Both of these are nicer looking plants because they aren't getting so much sun.

On a bright note, while looking over my kerriis today, I noticed my hairy kerrii has put on its first 3 peduncles! I'm pretty pumped about that!
