Sometimes, I'm glad I didn't follow my instincts!

My regular H. kerrii has this 4' long leafless stem that has several young peduncles on it. It's just an ugly stem and I really wanted to cut it off this spring, but I resisted the urge with all those peduncles on it. So I clipped it along a beam at the top of my GH where it wouldn't be flopping in my face and annoying me all summer. Kerriis been in a bloom cycle and I thought, "ok, if none of these peduncles bloom this summer, off that ugly stem comes!" Well, 4 of the 8 peduncles are budding up, and I'm betting the other 4 will bud, too. Maybe after it's done blooming I'll see some new leaf growth along that stem. What do you think? Or is it more likely that it will just remain a leafless blooming stem?
