Easy Elegance Macy's Pride photos of whole bush & site choice
Comments (11)Well, she's in the ground :)! Yesterday, during late afternoon shade, I dug deep and wide to give the best chance. The garden bed's top 6 inches is run-of-the mill garden soil and then heavy clay begins - solid clay at least 1.5 ft down. I didn't dig deeper but know it continues thanks to last summer's experience. I'm a little concerned that the clay floor and wall that runs around the hole will cause issues but, hopefully, I've amended the area adequately. In the bottom, I put about 8 inches of triple mix (peat, compost, manure), gently roughed the roots, set the bush on top of a pyramid pile, sprinkled some bonemeal around, filled in, firmed and watered. Watered a bit more this morning, too, just in case. Feel free to tell me where I goofed ;-). Now, I'm on the hunt for clematis (maybe Piilu)...and probably one more rose...The bug has bitten :). Karenforroses - I loved your pairing of veronica with your Macy's Pride. I picked up two to accompany mine - Royal Candles. Pretty sure sweet William will go in there as well. I have seedlings on the go but just heard they'll not bloom til next year. Ah, well. Off-topic: Others I picked up on the same trip- nemesia Berries n Cream, heliotrope, stock, dianthus Arctic Fire and coreopsis Moonbeam. The coreopsis will go near some salvia May Night at the side of the house...I haven't decided about the others - containers or beds, time will tell. The nemesia smalls out of this world!!! Thanks, everyone....See MoreEasy Elegance roses-they seem to be pushing them hard here
Comments (43)I bought quite a few of these last year at Lowe's and am enjoying seeing how they are acting this spring here in zone 5. Due to my daughters wedding last fall I got NO outside work done, never even got my potted roses into the garage because so much wedding stuff was in there, so no winter protection at all. Little Mischief has tons of foliage and was mostly cane hardy. It's a short plant that has filled in quite well after being planted in the dead of summer last year. High Voltage was mostly cane hardy as well. Much taller. Two that I cannot find a tag for (but are the same - it's a symmetrical bed) I am pretty sure was Music Box. They were taller and mostly cane hardy as well. Wasn't expecting that from Music Box as I had read their vigor and hardiness was somewhat questionable. Grandma's Blessing was not cane hardy at all - just pruned it way down this week. Pretty sure it will grow back from the ground though. Have Champagne Wishes across the sidewalk and it wasn't very cane hardy either but is pumping out growth now. In a different bed (more exposed to wind and less snow cover) Sunrise Sunset planted late summer was almost fully cane hardy and has growth the entire length of sprawling 4' long canes. I suspect it's going to outgrow its spot in the bed and head into the yard this summer. My Girl looks good as well. Had to prune out some winter kill. Calypso had quite a bit of cane die but looks like it will grow back well from the ground. Unfortunately I had about 5 more still in the growers pots that never got planted and never got put in the garage. Whoops. I think one (super hero maybe???) may still be alive but the others don't look promising. That's my own fault though. They had had a whole bunch of them at Lowes earlier this week. I may have to go get a Kashmir (don't think I found it last year) and look for a Sweet Fragrance - debated on it last year and don't remember seeing it the other day. I did pick up two Above and Beyond climbers at Lowes - not Easy Elegance but same company. Never saw them around here before and want to put them on an arbor I got from Lowes 90% off the fall before last :)...See MoreElegant and easy to clean bathroom
Comments (14)Hi abwhitney: In lieu of an expensive frameless shower door, many people on this forum have opted for a shower curtain instead. You can get a curved shower curtain rod or a straight one and then a liner and the actual shower curtain. There are a lot of nice shower curtains with large grommets that will give a modern look and are machine washable. I saw a nice, clean white shower curtain with the big grommets at Lowes this weekend. In terms of a bathtub, I think Kohler has quite a few to choose from. If you have the room, I suggest you look at the Kohler expanse tub. It's acrylic and easy to clean. I agree with pricklypearcactus in that large ceramic 10 x 13 or porcelain tiles will be easier to clean and much more low maintenance than marble or natural stone. Many tile manufacturers make ceramic and porcelain tile that mimic the natural stones quite nicely. For ventilation purposes, many on this forum recommend the Panasonic Whisper vent fan. I'm not where the intersection of modern versus contemporary lies for you, but Duravit and IKEA make wonderful vanities for space constrained areas. Take a look at the IKEA Godmorgan vanity and medicine cabinet. Good luck! Here is a link that might be useful: Kohler Expanse Tub...See MoreDoes anyone know Rose Nurseries that sell Easy Elegance series Roses
Comments (11)Sorry John I clicked on your profile and saw your location. You lucky devil I typed in one of your zip codes. There are at least 30 nurseries in your area that carry EE rose including Lowes and Menards. Ours never have them and I'm not that far from Chicago. Thats usually where I end up driving. Most likely you will also be able to find Campfire. It's not an EE but a newer intro from Canada. Highly recommend this rose if you like it that is....See MoreDonna Roesink Zone 6a Ohio
