Thermador and Wolf Ovens together

we are planning a significant kitchen remodel, and planning to go with mainly a thermador appliance package including 36" rangetop, ventilation, 36" fridge, and dishwasher. We really like the idea of a steam oven, but not sold on the Thermador unit given it's size. So, thinking of going with a 30" Wolf E series (CSO30PESPH) convection steam oven installed/stacked over a Thermador 30" (ME301J) single convection wall oven. Does anyone see an issue with this? Will it "look" ok? Appreciate the feedback.

You do know that both steam ovens are really about the same 24" size with 30" trim kits.

Yes, I am aware of this. However, the Wolf Steam oven has larger capacity of 1.8 cu ft vs the Thermador with 1.4 cu ft. Also, after reviewing many of the postings here, it appears many prefer the Wolf Steam over the Thermador steam. thanks.

I have the Thermador steam oven. Like it. The electronics panel did die after a few months, Thermador replaced immediately. The reservoir works fine. I've never cooked anything that required more than one carafe full of water. Wolf touts the ability to fill the reservoir while cooking. If you do need to add with the Thermador, just pause the cooking, fill up and keep going.

I have a Thermador steam range. The smaller oven is functionally the same as their steam wall oven. I'm not sure what the new steam ovens have that the older ones dont. With my older model the capacity is somewhat smaller than wolf or Miele. You can fit a decent amount in but you won't mistake it for a full size oven. It also does not have all the setting/moisture customization that at least miele does, but I'm not sure you really need them. Minor non steam ovens gripes are the range fan is somewhat loud and runs for a while after the stove is off. The simmer burners click on and off, some people don't like that but doesn't bother me. The range oven is missing a few settings my Miele wall oven (a speed oven) has, for example "intensive." It's perfectly serviceable and I use it just about daily without regrets, if you are doing a wall oven though I'd go with Miele preferably plumbed. If you want it in a range, Thermador it is. Not that I think Thermador would disappoint but Miele does seem to be somewhat better. I'd avoid any blue interior wolf for sure.

Hi Donna, I got the older professional models. I believe they came out with new ones about 4 months after I bought my ovens (about 3 years ago). They were liquidating the floor models. I was not even aware they came as a single unit. There is a shelf between my two ovens. I got the Thermador induction 36KITCB with the 5 burner spots, but based on your other post (I tried to message you directly as an answer and stumbled on your other post with the picture of the wolf and your grilled cheese) you look like you want the whole thing as a burner. We don’t have a large set of pans and my wife keeps saying we should buy a couple bigger ones. We just have a cast iron, a 12 inch, a 10 inch and a Wok so don’t need much more. Never had an issue but we never make more than 4 things at once. I love induction so far. So much easier to clean than gas. Water boils super quick and I enjoy the temperature responsiveness. My concern was when I read the reviews on the freedom it had some electrical kinks. I assume they have worked that out or you can get the guaranty. Personally I liked the look of the wolf induction top more and had I not got a great deal on my Thermador I would all things being equal pick the wolf. They are both good brands and make quality products. Since you also mentioned you will need new pans. I have an All Clad 5ply and a couple 3 ply Scan pans. I actually find myself reaching for the Scanpan more. For what it is worth for Dishwashers I read Miele and or Bosch products (Thermador or gaggenau) were best. I wanted one with the salt and quiet since I read it cleans better and is less likely to have that smell. Hope this helped!

I have been in appliance selection and paralysis since October so I understand your diiemma.. Have you looked at the Miele ovens? Miele masterchef oven has a rotisserie.,I'm in love with that oven and will probably get that and their CSO as long as the local appliance center gets the certification to repair them . Otherwise service has to come form 3 to 4 hours away. I love the concept of the wireless thermometer, the 16 bread programs and the ease of programming cooking modes. Have you been to any demonstrations of the ovens at Miele and Wolf appliance showrooms? While I wait for my renovation to start in winter, I have been using air fryer ovens and hope that I will still use my big built in appliances.as I have fallen in love with them; the ease of cooking, not reheating the whole kitchen, quick cooking time and how the food turns out. Have you looked at AF ovens for reheating naan and offering extra options for oven cooking?

Do look at them in the store. The amount of water they'll hold in cubic feet isn't necessarily indicative of usable space.

The trick to stacking two unlike ovens, visually as well as structurally, is to have a little space between them. A structural division with 1-2" of face trim makes all the difference between looking like Henry's House of Ovens, and just having a couple of different appliances that do different things.

If you are near a pirch, all of our stores have the thermador and wolf side by side live in our showrooms.

Otherwise it won't look ideal, but can't hurt. What the other poster was saying is that the CSO30 and CSO24 from wolf are the same interior. Same with the 24" and 30" thermador units.

I am in the same boat as you. I viewed both steam convection models yesterday in a showroom. The wolf is much more user friendly to use. You have to use a guide in order to operate many of the settings on the Thermador. The rep showed us and said most people tape on an interior cabinet. The wolf programming is all right on the interface...so much easier. And, the wolf water reservoir can be filled without opening the door to the oven, while the Thermador has to have the door to oven opened to access water.

Thanks Joe and plllog for your comments. pllog, i've appreciated reading many of your posts. I will head back to the appliance dealer later this week. To add more context, we are pretty much leaning towards a Thermador appliance selection due to the attractive promotion. I believe the 30" Thermador convection wall oven will be very suitable for us. And since we are attracted to a steam option, we want to install a combi steam oven above the Thermador oven. As jaimeeap points out, the Wolf steam oven has more attractive features and usability, not to mention cooking capacity vs the Thermador steam oven options. will report back after spending more time at the dealer. appreciate additional input and feedback.
