Decision, Decisions, Decision, aka, Countertop Advice Needed
Comments (5)Tropic brown, tan brown are two others. There are very dark golds like Juparana Tobacco or Paradiso which might work. You might also consider something like teak wood. Etching leaves white marks. On a brown marble it will be very visible. For fun, I got a two buck pink marble tile from the box store and had "science" when I was trying to decide about counters. Science consisted of pouring a small qty of lemon-lime soda on a bit of the marble and seeing if I could get it off before it etched. The answer was NO! I would suggest you spend a couple bucks to get a tile similar to what you want to use and have your own science project....See MoreShutter decision - have to make asap...
Comments (27)I think the home looks better with the shutters, but there is no harm in living with it for a while without the shutters (as mentioned, they aren't more difficult or significantly more expensive to do them later. And you may decide in time that you prefer going without)....See MoreNeed help with rug decisions!! HELP!
Comments (7)You can do just about anything other than solid grey -- well, even that as long as there is contrast in color and texture. If those are your two kiddos, a print rug would probably be more kid friendly and forgiving. You could even do an indoor/outdoor rug that would be easier to clean. What colors do you wear the most? That might be a good direction to look for colors you will like living with in the rug. Maybe that's black and white too? Even a neutral, something as plain as a sisal, could be good. You really need to narrow it down with some thoughts on style, color, formality, wear, feel/touch -- something more than goes with B/W and grey....See MoreShutter or No Shutter? Need Help w/ Paint color 1960s brick home
Comments (7)Thank you all so much for your comments! Just to clarify... I have black louvered shutters on all windows on the front of the house (as shown in the 2nd photo). The first photo shows how it looks since we have removed a few shutters for repair and paint prep. I have seen a lot of tone on tone or lighter colored shutters and began wondering if my black w/white siding on top of multi-color old brick looked too dated. The back of the house has 4 casement windows (upper) and 2 lower. We have never had shutters on these. I noticed that my photos - front and back yard - look almost mirror-image! But that was just a coincidence. Thanks again to you all! Picking out paint colors is tougher than it looks! :)...See MoreUser
