Comments (6)Hehehe!! When I saw this thread by me, I couldn't figure out when I posted it - I didn't remember posting this one at all! But after reading it, I do remember that spicebush swallowtail dancing all over the palamedes. If they mated, the resulting hybrids would have to be called Sherry swallowtails! :) I never did see 'em mate, though, so I guess they weren't that confused! That reminds me, early this spring when the male hummingbirds had gotten here, but the females hadn't yet arrived, I heard a male buzzing the "shuttle" which is a mating ritual/dance they do for females. I thought surely a female was here, then I heard the same thing a little later, and he was courting a chickadee! I guess he just courted the littlest bird he could find! Comments (9)because my area is packed with deer and rabbits this year i tried the impatiens for the first time and, guess what, neither of the 2 have touched them. however, since everything around here gets pulled, eaten and killed, the day i planted my 2 flats. i sprayed on the soil, not the plants eliminator ant, flea and tick killer granules. it sounds crazy but nothing got closed to the plants for almost a month giving them enough time to "take". repeated treatment after a month. they are still doing great. my big question now is whether am going to be able to obtain the same results by planting the seeds for the surrounding areas...See MoreHave You Heard of These??
Comments (9)This is just a wild guess, but would it be a jicama? I just discovered them this year, and they taste much like a pear, but crisp like an apple or a water chestnut. Did you have to peel it? Ooops, I guess I missed the part where it was a melon. Sorry. Ignore my thought of it being a jicama This post was edited by jasdip on Wed, Sep 17, 14 at 8:47...See Morekitasei
