Baby tree sprout started changing colors, ok to bring indoors?
Comments (3)Maples, regardless of species, are NOT houseplants. They need that natural change in temperatures and day length that comes with the change of seasons, as do all temperate climate plants. They have to go through a normal period of dormancy which cannot be achieved inside a house. Even long time bonsai enthusiasts do not keep bonsai maples indoors - protection from winter cold, yes. Indoors on a desk, no. Josh's suggestion is a good one. Pot 'em up and keep somewhere protected but still outdoors (covered but unheated shed, unheated garage or basement, even sunk into garden soil). Once underway with the bonsai training, you will want to follow the same plan - protection in winter from excessive cold exposure (especially if in a small bonsai pot) as that can damage or kill the more vulnerable roots, but NOT indoors!! BTW, not all Japanese maples have red leaves :-) Of the thousand or so cultivars on the market, at least as many have green leaves, or golden or orange or even multicolored (variegated) leaves as there are ones with red leaves....See MoreMy very first rug. How do I bring colors together?
Comments (33)Havingfun, you are right. Originally I was thinking pillows that had both colors but most of my feedback was for solids and textured. I do like what you’ve shown and appreciate the links. I think when I make a purchase I will have a mixture of solids, textured, and like what you have shown....See MoreHow can I bring my home to current style without changing furniture?
Comments (25)Your house is not dated. It looks fresh, and there are only a few tweaks I see, as others have noted. Something more colorful for rugs. The overhead lights could be switched out for more flair. I'd find a single art piece for behind the sofa, something with a bit more drama - I was going to say color, but if you'd prefer, a black and white piece would go there well, if it stood out more. I am NOT one for low artwork behind furniture - but in this case with that window above, I think the art does call for being lower. (Why I am not, generally-speaking, a fan? 1) Navel-height art fails to appeal to me, and 2) people leaning back on couches will likely bang or brush their heads on the art.) I'd switch the two chairs in the living room. Stair railing: I am fine with it as is, or stain it a bit darker (do not paint). As for paint color for the walls - nothing ever looks the same on a monitor as in person, but what you already have appears to work (and you'd be doing a LOT of painting if you do decide to change the color. Get samples, paint a board or spare bit of sheet rock. I like the fish tank - painting that might be worthwhile....See MorePurple Paint Color...can I cut the color by 25% 50% bring down purple?
Comments (20)First make sure the wall color is, in fact, the color of the swatch. Sometimes colors actually get mixed incorrectly. If that ended up happening here and your painter got the paint for you, you can have it repainted. However, I'm betting that's the right Accessible Beige and you did not realize how much yellow was within the white cabinets until your walls were painted. It goes great with your counters and backsplash, but your cabinets are fighting it For now, if your party is at night, maybe it won't show as much. You could also try to put in some retrofit LED cans that allow you to "color-adjust"...they sell them at Home Depot. After the party, however, if you repaint, first buy a sample pint of a new chosen color and paint a poster-board (2 coats). Then you can put color up on different walls at different times of day and get a better feel for what it will do with your cabinets/backsplash/etc. I never choose a paint color without a large poster-sized swatch because it reveals so much that a small swatch can't. Also, while SW has beautiful colors, I find that their neutrals (whites, off-whites and grays) tend to run warm. I have better luck with Benjamin Moore having more options and solutions to problems like yours....See Moreehuns27 7a PA
