Here we go again-we've turned the corner
Comments (13)Mid 70's here all next week but the night time temps are deadly! 33 degrees on Sunday night forecasted here in Plumas County. Already some of my plants are complaining. This afternoon I intend to start yanking annuals in anticipation of what will probably be major cold damage in the garden starting over the weekend. The chimney sweep is coming Monday night to get the woodstove ready for winter.., Kate...See MoreLg64vl- here we go again- another problem- cannot set phone to unlocke
Comments (16)Well some would say my back ups are over kill for phone and computer. I figure the less I keep on the device cluttering it up the smoother it will run. I have seen to many people crying over lost family photos because they didn't back them up. I hope they can figure out what is causing this. I had the boot loop issue with the G4 and LG admitted it was their update that fried the phones. Happened once in warranty and once out of warranty and out of warranty LG still gave me a prepaid mailer and fixed it free once they determined it was not my fault. I have to say their customer service was very good to deal with on that issue. I didn't realize how updates worked with tracphone and the lesser carriers so good to know....See MoreHurricane Michael: Here we go again!
Comments (25)Maddielee, finally heard from them at 8 PM last night. They are Ok, had 9 ft storm surge that went under their house, but cars got a foot of water. Singles gone, facia boards gone. Windows saved by hurricane shutters. No electric, water, or sewer yet. Ground has to dry before using septic or it will back up (they had to put semi deflated rubber balls in toilet and sinks to keep sewage out during flooding. Currently no cell or text service, but they have a DSL line working that they hooked to wi-fi fix to use when generator is running. Two hours on, two off....See MoreO dear...here we go again, on the road to weevil hell.
Comments (3)Aw, thank you, Jay. Now, if you like words and are in the mood for reading, can I recommend the most excellent Ken Thompson. Prolific, erudite, witty, a bit iconoclastic with some interesting views on ecology, biodiversity, adaptation. 'Do We Need Pandas' and 'Where Do Camels Belong' , the terrific 'The Sceptical Gardener' and, in his academic role, an ebook, 'Ecology of Seeds'- all very accessible., He has written many papers (a whole series of articles in The Telegraph (Torygraph, smirk), does sporadic newspaper columns, has some involvement in stuff like Future Ecologists- I think you will enjoy his work....See Moregarden nut z9b
