What type of rug pad for tile floors?

I need rug pads for large area rugs that will be on a tile floor (12x12 tiles). The netted pads seem skimpy for such a hard surface. The felt pads seems like they may slip. I want the rug to stay put yet provide comfort and warmth.

What do you use if you have a similar situation?

Even the cheapest version of the pad shown in this pic should keep rug steady, plus furniture should help keep it from moving too

I have various types of rugs (Soumak and wool) on tile floors. Purchased pads from Amazon, locally and online at Rug Pad USA. My Soumak/flatweave has the Superior-Lock 1/8″ felt and rubber pad. You shop by rug and floor type --> click here. I've been far happier with purchased from there than anywhere else.

Thanks to both of you for the help. I've taken a look at the linked website for pads and will investigate further. And, I've been doing some research on pads for hand knotted carpets. Apparently using a pad of some sort will prolong the life of the carpet because the pad absorbs some of the shock/friction from people walking on the rug. Yet, I also know that where these rugs are made there really is no such thing as a rug pad. On Amazon I did find a pad that gets high reviews for use as a pad for hand made rugs that are placed on hardwood floors. Durahold Plus Felt and Rubber Pad for Hard Floors.

I have used these pads (which are vinyl, not latex) with excellent results under all sorts of rugs, and is washable too. People with latex allergies can handle these pads but not the rubber ones. It will also not damage flooring of any type, supposedly. It's made in Germany, btw... not in China. ;-) I got mine from this online vendor, and if you google Wundergrip you'll also find a link to the USA distributor's website also. Nothing. An 80sf wool rug is SUPER heavy. It won't move. Rug pads are usually used to keep rugs from sliding around (like hallway runners or entrance mats). A rug that size in that material is going to be close to 100 lbs. It won't move once it is in place. So long as it has a natural backing (just wool + cotton weft) you are fine. No need for anything else.

I've had a pad like the one in bossyvossy's photo on my tile floor and it took FOREVER to get rid of all the residue it left on the tile. If you are in a less humid climate, maybe it would be okay.

I was aware that the cheaper pads degraded right on top of wood floors so I bought the expensive pads guaranteed not to degrade. The cheaper ones have not be a problem on my tiling but they have been on less time....
