Ah, it is!!! It is John F. Kennedy. I was uncertain at first, but my bloom opened up this morning, and two of my buds have started to open as well. I've been looking up and reading up on John F. Kennedy all morning, and the comments I'm seeing and the pictures, well, I'm now convinced. :D Several people saying it has only a slight fragrance, which I'm sure can be attributed to soil content and fertilization methods - and I also noticed on two of my buds this morning, the slightest barely there bit of pink around a few of the petals. I've seen this in a few of the photos of J.F.K. online. Now that I'm certain, I feel a lot better lol. I don't know why, I just have an issue with knowing the names of the roses I'm growing lol.

They normally don't die back in Dallas and will eventually become a ~ 6 to 8 ft shrub. Not sure that they reliably re-sprout from the root collar, so would not prune the main stem(s) shorter than 2 or 3 ft unless you have to or are willing to experiment. Someone else may know otherwise, but we got no new shoots when we had to cut a couple healthy ones off at the ground a few years ago that were too big to transplant.

Hi Cynthia! I can't answer your questions for sure because this is my first year with it and so far they are in pots. The seeds received from Kathy were planted in a big pot with a wrought iron tower in it and is placed right smack dab in the middle of pots of roses and it is doing fine as are the the roses. They are all in the late afternoon shade of a tall tree. The newer 'mystery vines' ;-) are in small pots and tend to wilt if not watered often. All are in rich soil and fertilized with Osmocote and once in a while they get a dash of Super Bloom. Try it on the fence and tell us how it does. It is not a plant that gets totally covered with blooms, but it usually keeps a few on it to admire for their gorgeous color. The foliage is healthy and nothing seems to want to eat it. :-) That may be because the garden has been organic for a number of years now. I am still amazed at how little to nothing a problem any bugs are. The roses don't even get thrips or spider mites. Year before last I thought it might be just a fluke. Last year I thought maybe it was too wet. This year I think maybe it's too dry, but the real reason might be the 'good' bugs keep the 'bad' bugs in check when mother nature is allowed to balance things.
