Anybody recognize this?

I've been trying to ID this rose since last year. I got it as a bareroot, labeled Montezuma.

The bush is classic hybrid tea, with long upright canes, flowers only at the top with no forks or side shoots. There are a few buds at the top of each cane though. In its second year, it's about 3 feet tall.

The leaves are quite large, some as long as 4 inches and 3 inches wide, pointy, with serated edges. Leaf color is lighter green, with almost no gloss, and there are typically 3 leaves per stem, though some have five.

The buds are large and very pale lemon yellow with a greenish tint. When they open, they remain yellow for a couple days and fade to white when the rose is fully open.

The blooms are quite large, about 5 inches in diameter, double bloomed, I would say and cupped?

The scent is very mild, I couldn't really pick anything up.

It's an absolutely gorgeous rose! I never would have gone with a white in my front flower bed, but I sure do love this guy!

Anyone know what it might be?

I wonder if it could be John F. Kennedy. I can't get the HelpMeFind.com pages to load this morning, but you might try the rose search there and see if the photos and description match.

One thing I might add is that my wild purslane has smaller leaves than other varieties I've heard of. Not completely clear looking at the picture above, but I think my leaves are smaller -- about a quarter inch or less. That might make a difference in how you prepare them. Yes, the "Foraging Texas" site is great. Now, this stuff is pretty amazing. It will grow where it is too dry for other things to grow. In fact, it got established in my lawn the year before last when I lost half my lawn, and goodly parts of it turned into purslane.

welcome to the world of Plant IDing. A. hubrichtii is a much larger plant . Unless you planted it , It most likely would not just pop up unless you live in a small area of Arkansas. Most Amsonia seeds are pretty large and they grow in populations, water born to new area, not often bird carried since they aren't normally bird food.

I was able to put the link to the helpMeFind photos of John F. Kennedy today, so take a look and see what you think.

This is a rose with buds that often have a greenish tinge, as you describe, large blooms and a leaf shape and growth habit like that of your rose.

(Your description also fits prairie-rose's suggestion of Elina, but the leaves in your photo are longer and pointed, like those of JFK)

Different noses detect fragrance differently, so we can't always judge by that. I don't get much fragrance from JFK, but some do.

Ah, it is!!! It is John F. Kennedy. I was uncertain at first, but my bloom opened up this morning, and two of my buds have started to open as well. I've been looking up and reading up on John F. Kennedy all morning, and the comments I'm seeing and the pictures, well, I'm now convinced. :D

Several people saying it has only a slight fragrance, which I'm sure can be attributed to soil content and fertilization methods - and I also noticed on two of my buds this morning, the slightest barely there bit of pink around a few of the petals. I've seen this in a few of the photos of J.F.K. online.

Now that I'm certain, I feel a lot better lol. I don't know why, I just have an issue with knowing the names of the roses I'm growing lol.

My JFK had a very strong fragrance. My vote is for Garden Party, which has a light fragrance.
