You may remember my friend whose computer was frozen by an evil person. She turned to people with whom she had a contract to keep her computer working. You wondered who that was. TechMatrix, 855 370 3449. I googled them and they seem to be a real company . They take over her computer to fix it and she watches while they do whatever they do. About $200 per year. (Their phone number had appeared on her screen the first time this happened to her.)

They look like a "real" company, but online reviews seem to indicate the earmarks of a scam, as well. They have horrible reviews from the Better Business Bureau: Tech Matrix

Any company that throws up a window on your computer with a phone number to call to fix a problem is, in my experience, a scam intended to take advantage of unsophisticated computer users...like your friend. I recommend that your friend have nothing more to do with this outfit. I hope she hasn't signed up for a recurring annual payment to them of $200, which is outrageous. She should take whatever steps she needs to cancel this "contract." I don't know exactly how they operate, but they could be putting fake messages on her computer that something needs fixing, and then she pays them to remove this. The next time she has this happen, she needs to shut down the computer and take it to a legitimate local shop that will really remove any malware that's been put on her computer. In fact, she might just want to take it in now and have it cleaned properly. And then she needs to keep her antivirus up-to-date.

This does not surprise me. Thank you so much for the information! I will try again to talk to her about it. She normally is a smart savvy person!

Nut, Since my family is from Eastern Tennessee I can speak from experience. I think it best that I forgo your offer of cuttings. You see, I happen to like the taste of both goat and pig fattened on kudzu. Especially if they don't belong to me. Sucker 'em on fresh kudzu and butcher 'em quick and sling the offeral to the 'yotes. The taste for goat I acquired SOUTH OF THE BORDER. The taste for country cured pork runs like blood in my veins. And not, BTW the weak bottomed stuff the super markets try to pass off now days. Give me that DRY, SALT CURED ham. The one with a little "bite". The kind that after you take a slice off you can just hang back up and not worry about it going bad. I am sorry you take offense summer fashion -- I was just trying to point out that there are other places for this rare rose. As the grower of over 600 roses, many of which are rare, I try to do my part to keep some of these in commerce, and have given cuttings to many different growers. My initial question was simply directed at trying to figure out if I had the rose that was supposedly "the last one," and if I did have it, to get it out there to some distributers. FYI -- Cliff is the proprieter of Eurodesert Roses and he specializes in distributing rare roses. And to answer your question about Gregg -- no I do not think he would necessarily have driven down and gotten another one -- he has his hands full keeping all the roses already in his 4000 rose collection. I would be shocked if he were adding more, even if he happens to lose one. As for you complaint about "hi-jacking", I am sorry that you posted your Kudzu question on the rose board. Maybe you should have put it on the appropriate forum in the first place, rather than worrying about someone changing the subject of your post back to the subject of the board. Please elaborate on the GEORGIA LAW concerning KUDZU. For years, I've been fighting the 'creep over and under' of kudzu from a neighboring lot. This has involved pulling vines from trees, digging roots and spraying, spraying, spraying the leaves w/ brush killer. I'm getting older and it is becoming more difficult for me physically and financially to continue this battle alone. I'd like to 'encourage' my neighboring property owner to take responsibility for this pestilence. Any court costs would have to be less than the money I've spent and will have to spend on brush sprays and chiropratic adjustments! Kudzu is the absolute worst invasive plant that I've had to deal with. You must be insane to want to grow and spread this stuff. This stuff make air potato look like marigolds. You really need to google some images of all manner of things being overtaken by this awful plant ... forests ... homes. .. cars. ..you name it. You need to read about the poor people who cannot get rid of it and their experiences, and suffering, while trying to and failing for years. This plant can't be chopped down, poisoned, dug up, etc. The stalks turn into rope when you try to chop them ... the plant laughs at poison and each leaf node sends down a root that can't be dug out. I had an acre of it and I would have needed an army to get rid of it. Good Lord you must be able to find another forage plant that is not as evil as kudzu. It makes me sick to the stomach, and see red, every time I start reading another forum and you're there asking for kudzu.

I just hate to see someone taken advantage of simply because they are not a computer guru. Maybe if you have her read some of the links I provided, she will come to the conclusion on her own that she is being scammed...

Cancel the contract, and if she did sign up for automatic renewals, cancel the contract, and cancel the credit/bank card (get a new number from the issuer), IMMEDIATELY.

Yep, yep and yep (It Is A Legit Scam)!
1. She needs to Read the Links Provided above in kudzu9 post!
2. She needs to Cancel that Credit Card and have a new Credit Card Issued (IMMEDIATELY)!
3. She needs to have the computer repaired Professionally at a reputable local computer shop. No If, Ands or Buts about it, it needs Cleaned by a True Reputable Professional! We have Two Shops in our area I would trust to do that kind of work (although there are many more shops around here). I'm sure someone in her area can direct her to a Reputable Local Computer Shop!
4. She needs to see if she can recoup any of the money she's already paid them (doubt she will be able to)!
