Comments (6)If your current washer has been repaired and is working, why replace it now? You've already invested in the repair, I'd suggest continuing to use the machine until it develops another problem. Payback on energy/water savings depends on individual usage characteristics and local utility costs. Payback time at average of four loads per week likely will be longer than you expect, unless your utility costs are very high. Keep in mind that just because a frontloader (or any washer for that matter) has an exceptionally large capacity doesn't mean all your laundry should be bundled together so as to always run the largest load possible. Sorting according to color, soil level, fabric type, and special care items is still important, and even moreso with the newer HE-type low-water and high-spin-speed machines that are less forgiving at mismatching the cycle selection and load type. The wrinkle-prevent (or wrinkle guard, finish guard, wrinkle free, etc.) feature on dryers sometimes lead to misunderstanding of what exactly it does. It's intended for situations in which no one is present to immediately unload the dryer when a cycle ends. What it does is instead of the machine shutting off and sitting there with the clothes crumpled in the drum, it runs an unheated tumble for an additional period of time (either intermittently or continuously) to keep the items moving and fluffed-up. If you normally unload immediately when the cycle ends, the wrinkle-prevent function won't really do much for you....See MoreGet it off your chest.....what irritates ya?
Comments (68)LOL Zeetera I use obscure terms and words no one else knows too. I know "top and tail" Graham Kerr the Galloping Gourmet said it while I was watching his show so long ago. I learned it then and it has stuck. The funny thing is I hadn't heard the term in years and only a few times some time back. Very recently I was watching another well know cooking show and the Chef used the term top and tail. The gals watching with me didn't know it. I have only heard Chefs say it. Comments (22)Nice to know I'm not alone...also a reason I've steered clear of doing anything larger than a twin size quilt. Also the reason I have several tops done, but there they hang...waiting for me to finish. I do mine on the floor, and the results are just ok. I may give the dining room table a try for the next go round. I did find a video where where the quilter used two- two by fours (sanded and painted so they did not snag) and wrapped or sandwiched the layers using a wrapping technique...,Anyone ever try it? I'll take a look tonight and see if I can find the link...it was awhile ago I came across it...I'll go searching again. V....See MoreWell here it is--My usual sad holiday post
Comments (29)Hi Kathy! I am glad to see all of this support heading your way and that you pulled together such a lovely meal. Depression is challenging let alone having a troubled relationship. You've done your best to take care of your Dad. It's his loss now that he's closed the door to you. Bless you for continuing to try to send love his way. You do the best you can. Now it's time to take care of Kathy. Please don't ever feel alone - we are here for you. KT has been so supportive for me over the years - each and everyone continues to mean so much to me. It's not such a big world out there when our friends pull together. I agree with fussing over yourself and I love the suggestion to plan something for yourself for upcoming events - that's a terrific idea! Have a wonderful evening tonight. Kathy you deserve a favorite movie, good book, soak in the tub - pamper yourself and remember you have many, many friends all over North America/Canada.
