Just found this mother Great horned owl cuddling with 2 of her 3 babies. The 3rd one is still in the nest below her...

My Chickie Girls are getting too creative! I know to check the free standing hay feeder but this is what I found today. So far there have been no broken eggs even though the horses have access to everything. You have to give them credit; they put the hay in there and made their own nest. There's a wall feeder right next to this bucket so they didn't have to go far for the hay. I know to check the wall feeders for eggs and now I have to check the buckets! If I would have wanted her to use this as a nest you can bet she wouldn't have. I don't know how many girls are using this bucket. This is probably 2 days worth. It's been cool enough here that I will use these eggs myself. In fact, ate one already.

Janey's picture looks like a sculpture of a fish eating a snake. It reminds me of this snake sculpture in a park outside the Zoo in Rio de Janeiro. I didn't have time to go around the pond to get a better picture, since we had to catch the subway back to the hotel, to catch a cab to the airport. Even though our flight was scheduled to board at 8:30P.M. and it was not quite 4:00 P.M. we were already cutting it close.

Oh fran I can smell that wonderful perfume from here, oh wait that's my Gardenia tree I am smelling. It's just loaded with buds and flowers. Never had so many as this year.
