Virginia Bluebells from Seed? Other easy perennials to fill big areas

Kristina nonane

I'm in Chicago area, I've got a wooded sunny/shade lot with tons of open space for planting. I see large areas of virginia bluebells planted and they look great! I would like to replicate that look, is it feasible to do so with seeds in the fall? Could I plant them directly in the ground? I want to add tons of flowers to my flowerless landscape at minimal effort and cost. I'm NOT a gardener. Any other perennials I could grow by seed? I definitely want to put in a ton of daffodils and tulips next fall.
