Comments (6)I think it must be from last year. I don't remember it from this spring's stuff, but I could be wrong. Bonus is the hummers are all over it like a ("body-image challenged" kid on a smartie..oops..Canadianism..I mean M&M)! ;0)...See MoreOops I Did it Again
Comments (2)Lisa funny you should say that. I love it. It is not for formal gardens as it likes to wander a bit but I find it very easy to deal with. In the spring when muscari blooms with blue and spurge gives those beautiful yellows - it is showstopper! Later after it done blooming I pull out most of it and let other plants grow, I am big on double/ triple planting in same area for long lasting effect. Fernly leaves are great looking throughout the summer and you can not say same about many perennials. I grow several species of spurges and while they tend to appear in different spots now and then I do not mind as my garden is very informal woodland type. Have not seen them moving from one bed to another. I find it is easy to pull and control any spurge and many of them are just beautiful. From multiple discussions here and my own experience I conclude that what is terrible pest in one garden might be a blessing in another. Some people's gardens get overtaken by tradescantia and some are happy if it only survives....See MoreOops, I did it again
Comments (3)What can you expect when you raise caterpillars in the bathroom! he-he At least DH doesn't say, "Dear, can you come in and get this blankety-blank thing off the mirror?" Nothing like a wandering caterpillar to make the day interesting! Keep the stories coming. Sandy...See MoreOops, I did it again.
Comments (8)It's tough to say, but I think it was a top layer freeze, as I don't remember them being more heavy than usual when I brought them in. The exposure was probably 2-3 nights with temps dipping into the low 20s, but the trees were within the curtilage of the house, so they probably enjoyed 5-10 degrees of ambient heat and daytime temps of 40-50. I'm hesitant to be optimistic now that they've been (hopefully) dormant for so long, but all three have green branches five months later--will dead limbs remain green, or does the pigmentation fade away? I'm tempted to scratch the bark away somewhere on the navel orange tree's trunk, as it's by far the most robust (three years old and no prior abuse, as compared to the 3 year lemon that was somehow both neglected and overpruned, and the 1 year lime that was still just a baby last fall). I learned my lesson about giving up last spring, when I assumed that the lemon was dead and left it in a corner of the yard. It sat there through July looking decrepit, then suddenly started coughing up leaves and flowers. They're hardier than I gave them credit fo...See Morecalamondindave
