tulip and bald men
Comments (19)This post is very interesting to me, because I've always been curious about "wives-tales" -- if that's a catagory that this theory might fall into. Some tales are true, some are false, but most wives-tales originally come from some sort of "truth" even if it gets twisted by time and generations of passing it down. I wonder where this theory came from? And if, (as crazy as it sounds) it may have some hidden ring of truth to it? I may need to worry now, too, that my balding husband has his hands on someone else's tulips, because he certainly hasn't been playing with mine!!...See Morebald hen
Comments (2)I'd isolate her until she grows her feathers back, give her lots of protein to help grow new feathers. Make sure she has lots of room to roam and isn't bored--give her treats that take time to eat (raw corn on the cob). It gives her nutrition, keeps her entertained and gives her something else to peck besides herself. You can also relieve the dry, itchy skin with vitamin E. Get some vitamin E capsules at the grocery store, pop a hole in one end of a capsule with a pin, and squeeze the contents into her mouth once a day for a week or so. Try to keep her out of direct sunlight so her delicate little chicken skin doesn't burn. :) If she is picking herself, you may have to put an anti-pick cone on her, like they do with dogs and cats. Good luck with her~ :) Velvet ~:>...See MoreWojo is bald
Comments (5)You know, even way back then when the show was prime, you could tell Wojo was thinning and heading in that direction. I find it almost refreshing a man could embrace that and not have angst about it. Baldness was sort of a novelty to me growing up because I don't know of one bald or balding man in my family on either side. I did, however, marry the first time to a man who was beginning to thin in his twenties. OMGod did he have issues with that. LOL. He spent a small fortune on snake oil from beauty shops until he finally believed me that it was in his genes and inevitable. We are long divorced, but I see him now and then and he looks like mister clean now. Present hubby has a full head of hair now, even in his advancing age, as did my father who died in his eighties with his mane intact. But, I don't find the trend for men with thin hair to just shave it all off unattractive at all. I always did have a thing for Yul Brynner. It all goes back to when people accept and are comfortable with their appearance, they come across attractive and they are liberated when they realise that they notice their perceived flaws a lot more intensely than anyone else does. Confidence and a smile ...........uhm........it's hard to see past that....See MoreBald Eagles in Port St Lucie
Comments (16)Just a few tidbits to enhance your viewing pleasure. The eagle you see on the nest feeding the young can be either the female or the male, as they both take turns raising the eaglets. See if you are able to notice that one parent is notably larger than the other. That would be the female. Female eagles can weigh 10 to 12 pounds, while males are usually in the 6 to 8 pound range. Surprisingly light for such large birds, eh? (Females can have an 8 foot wingspan, and males about 6 foot.) Eagles nest in the winter (hence the nice show going on right now), and the young have often fledged by February. Young eagles take several years to develop the white head and tail of the adult birds. They are usually either solid brown, or brown with various white markings here and there as they are maturing. They have longer wing & tail feathers than the adults, so they often look larger. When you see a turkey vulture silhouette soaring towards you, you will notice a shallow "V" shape to the wings. (Called the "dihedral" angle). When you see an eagle soaring towards you, the wings will be held straight out & flat, with no dihedral angle. So it is often easy to distinguish that the large soaring bird in the distance is probably a turkey vulture rather than an eagle. A huge percentage of an eagle's diet is fish, which is why they so often nest near bodies of water. They will catch fish in their talons the same way an osprey does, but will also steal fish from other birds any chance they get. Why do all the work when another bird has done it for you? And one last tidbit to ponder. Eagles mate in flight. Talk about "feeling the earth move!" ;o) Marcia...See Morearkansas girl
