Comments (1)Sogentry, I like your thoughts on a white/off white subway tile since your granite is lively...nice and simple. You don't want to two to complete. Oh, and you know how much I like tounge and groove or beadboard if you've been reading the recent thread I started. Take a look at some of the photos in that thread. I think that would look nice with your cabinets also depending on the style you are going for....See MoreBacksplash Help...small SS backsplash??? Pics?
Comments (8)Thanks prill...I'm leaning towards only doing tile in area to the left of the casing...then in the window area just doing paint and the casing down to the counter. I guess I'll just have to be more dilligent with cleaning. The Reef was the first tile that spoke to me...I really thought I was going to go for a more solid blue, but reef is so much softer....it allows me to play up the color of the walls more...not that I have a lot of walls...And, I found out that my designer can get it for about 12.50/sf where I was quoted around $15/sf....See MoreAnother Backsplash Option
Comments (35)epressler: Thanks so much for checking back! Unfortunately we've made no real progress on our backsplash, and very little progress on the kitchen in general! :/ With respect to the backsplash, though, I did as others suggested and made color copies of about four options, taped them together and hung them up. The only thing I decided is that I don't love the "box behind the range" look. It stood out too much and was a real focal point against all the white. I also don't love anything too busy with our countertops, so I'm leaning towards a plain white thassos subway, or doing some type of mixed marble tone-on-tone white mosaic everywhere (mtnrdredux had one in a shower that was lovely but I've had a hard time finding anything like it). Backsplashes are so hard. Any advice is welcome!!!...See Moreanother white subway tile backsplash???
Comments (20)We just put up our BS -- 2x4 " white subs -- on Sunday. Not grouted yet but will be gray as the tile on the floor. There is a lot going on in this kitchen and this tile looks best, IMHO. It is a farmhouse; new build. Gray quartzite and leathered black granite CT. I have never liked most BS as it seems to me to be the first thing in a kitchen to date it and distract. The scale of the smaller tile seems good enough here. Just because it is something that has been "done" over and over doesn't mean it's not the best thing for your kitchen. It was what I originally planned for this house going back about 10 years - just now getting the house finished. It's been a four year build :(...See MoreAnglophilia
