Arabian Jasmine not looking so good
Comments (1)In case anyone ends up having the same problem, turns out it has mealy bugs. I took a leaf to a nursery and they told me. The man recommended an organic spray called Fungicide 3 by Garden Safe.. it is for fungicide, insecticide and miticide. He told me it was still safe to use in this heat, just later in the evening or very early morning. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed and see what happens....See MoreArabian Jasmine in full sun?
Comments (4)Sorry I meant to mention that itsa little bigger then 2 foot by 2 foot, it was in a 5 gallon pot from lowes its grown quite a bit since the 11th of oct. it actually has 2 really long branches (one on each side) so its probably actually 3.5 at least but the main part of the bush is only about 2 foot, I don't know if size will effect how it takes the heat. Comments (7)Eric, Robert and I use two different soil mixtures, one known as the gritty mix and the other one is the 5 1 1. If you search on gardenweb 1:1:1, or Al's gritty and 5:1:1 mix you'll find both. The gritty mix is not recommended, if you're the type who travels a lot, as the plants might need daily fertigating (fertilize+irrigate) in the heat of summer. It is basically equal amounts of fine bark fines / crushed stone and turface passed thru a 1/4 inch sifter. The 5:1:1 is easier to make and more moisture retentive. It's 5 parts of fine bark fines, 1 part peat moss, 1 part perlite. You can easily buy a small bag of repti bark at the pet store and make it. If you want to go the super easy way, do as Robert says or go for the cactus mix. You can attach your pots to railing, with some twine or some galvanized wire, so it won't fly away. Good luck and have fun....See Morewanna_run_faster
