Vanda: Fertilize water w/...root hormone? bloom booster? or...
Comments (4)Sorry - this probably should have been posted as a follow-up relating to a specific Vanda I have asked about here. It is just beginning to recover from chronic lack of water and has been dormant for about 7 months with no new growth other than roots. I want to give it some "oomph". Others here suggested to my question and to others using fertilizer or some other product in the water or in spag. They were right about the sad lack of water, so now I am seeking "the next step". I water it not quite every day now. It gets a few minutes under the tap or in the shower. But I would like to use the "soak it in a bucket of water" method maybe once or twice a week (because it IS trying to recover from lack of water. It is super dry). The products I have in my arsenal are: Green Light Root Stimulator & Starter Solution Green Light Rooting Hormone Better-Gro Orchid Plus (20-14-13) Dynamite Plant Food (pellets - I use these in my potted stuff) 13-13-13 That really common orchid food that comes in a little blue pouch (blue crystals, can't remember the name, but it is SUPER common). Thanks for the forumula for the water ratio. Would you recommend I try 13-13-13 or other? Perhaps I should move this post?...See MoreBloom Booster for Amaryllis Aftercare? Also a question of color.
Comments (1)In grocery stores, and Wal-Mart, and the like, you can get named varieties that are actually not the given variety. Most of the time Red Lion they sell looks like Orange Souvereign to me. They usually just pick reddish colored flowers and sell the bulb following year as Red Lion or just as Orange or Red. The bulb you bought in the speciality store though more likely to come from a reputable breeder, who cares about growing actual Red Lion, when it wants to grow Red Lion. This year, I bought two packages of Red Lion from Lowes (it turned out to be some thin petalled orange flower) and Home Depot (it turned out to be Amigo-like), and none of them were Red Lion... Fortunately I gave them as present and my employee was extremely happy to have them no matter what mutt they were... They were beautiful. Especially the Amigo-like that grew three flower scapes. I bet for instance, that all the customers of MzBulbs who bought Aphrodite think that the flower is actually Aphrodite... It is similar, but not the same. I have the third Aphrodite flowering for me and they all turned out to be Nypmhs... Even a Pink Nypmh turned out as just the original Nymph. So I am getting a lot of money back... I am waiting for White Nymph to flower in the coming days... I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be original Nymph either... I have a bunch of Nymphs now. :o) And I don't even like that variety that much. Hope their Lima will indeed be Lima. Their Ruby Meyer was Ruby Meyer and their Carina was Carina with deep wine colored flower stalks, and it put on such a show with three flower stalks flowering at the same time with more than 15 flowers that I am still in love with this bulb... even though there is only one flower on it that is still not whilted and pollinated... Oh. And it seems like that all the flowers took the pollen, whichever variety it came from... I don't keep track, but it was Top Choice, Ruby Meyer, Snow White, and Limona. I am excited already if these seeds all germinate, how they turn out initially... I will make them flower and then force them for the following year and give away in charity for Christmas for seriously ill people... (I thik I am trying to justify all the work I am planning to put in growing amaryllis on my hillside.) I hope, I will have enough seeds germinate and survive for blooming size. I will always keep my named varieties, and always give away the mutts that I create after their first flowering year... Wish I didn't move that much. :o)...See MoreNew faucet + lower H2O pressure = new H2O main??!
Comments (9)Plumbers have pressure gauges and should be able to hook them up between the faucet and the shut off valve. I would measure the pressure when the faucet is off. That establishes maximum pressure at the time of test. Then open the faucet and see if the pressure drops. If the pressure stays steady or does not drop much that suggests the faucet has a blockage of some type. Normally the blockage occurs in the screen at the tip of the faucet. It should unscrew and a you can see dirt in the screen when you take it off. I used to build new homes on well systems instead of public water. We always got some dirt in the system when we first started using the water. A faucet will just barely drip and the screen in the air e ator was always the cause. When ever the washing machine starts filling slowly you know to take off the hoses and clean the screens and everything returns to normal. You can also open the valve to the kitchen faucet after attaching a pressure guage to it and fill a bucket with water and see if the pressure reading is similar to when the faucet is on to establish a pattern of what to expect. I would not take at face value you need to replace the water main. Also those pipes are burried low enough to keep from freezing if you live in a cold climate. In florida it is usually 12-18 inches. I would be very surprised if you car can damage that pipe where ever you live. People on farms drive over there pipes with tractors everywhere....See MoreFirst Little Giant Boil Wash 200F!!!!!! :-O
Comments (46)eponymouse I live in Sweden and we already have the new line of Asko washers you are talking about. What I have seen in test of earlyer machines fron asko are that they are about midrange in cleaning and rather low at rinsing how that will be in the new models time will tell..... Have read the top of the line manual and there are stuff you can program. There are a more water option, do not know if it ads even to wash or just rinse. You can ad 2 more rinses. Both these are not awailable in all programs. What is it you want to know specificly, but we have to remember that it can vary from Eu to Us, I will gladly read more of the manual if you want me to....See Moremamapinky0
