What you are seeing isn't spider webs but fungus. Algae and molds (usually greenish color) and fungi spores grow on the surface of soils that are kept too moist and if there is inadequate air circulation. They can be harmful to the seedlings if allowed to proliferate but prevention is easy - cut back on watering. Also if possible increase the air circulation around the plants - many use a small fan to do this.

Suggest you plan to direct seed your radishes and carrots in the garden in the future as both are tap root plants and are very intolerant of transplanting. If the top root is damaged in the process the parts you would eat are usually twisted, broken or distorted.

Thanks Dave, but i think it was actually Spider web, as i could see webs around the pots and the soil. It is whitish in color. I will keep a smal fan in the area per your suggestion though.

Many fungus and mold spores growing on soil look just like spider webs - white thin fuzzy threads that can grow into clumps if the soil doesn't dry out. There are pics of it in the FAQ here on fungus growth with seedlings, lots of pics on the web, and numerous discussions about it on the forums. And their development on the soil surface is the #1 clue that you are over-watering or there has been excessive rain if the plants are outside.

Now if you see spider webs on the plant leaves themselves, not the soil, that is often spider mites.
