Power Company sent me a big box of energy saving stuff
Comments (14)The thing to be careful about with toilet tank devices is that they not block the movement of the float arm or the flapper valve at the bottom. Not infrequently the local regulatory bodies (California Public Utilities Commission in my area) require the companies they regulate to offer various kinds of rate programs, rebates and incentives to encourage energy conservation measures. Whether it's for purchase of Energy Star appliances, adding insulation or new windows, buying more efficient HVAC products, time of use rates, etc., etc., these are things they're told to do. The costs are including in the rate base, meaning, all customers pay for it. Watchme, if you're in PG+E territory, they have always had conservation rebate programs over the years, as well as distributing bulbs and other such things....See MoreStar roses on Kordes acquisition
Comments (3)Interesting. In the interview, Jacques (from Star) describes how "they" (Star) found Carefree Celebration (the incipient Coral Knockout) to be a "superstar" in Louisiana and the midwest, but not a good performer (to "knockout standards") in Pennsylvania, NJ, NY, and "the midatlantic". Thus Star's rationale for not releasing the renamed rose in this region, going forward. A Carefree Celebration purchased from a local big box late last spring did fine in my garden last year, and is even more prolific this year. More interesting, Peter K's assessment [https://www.houzz.com/photos/roses-phvw-vp~53144434[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/roses-phvw-vp~53144434) of this rose puts it near the very top of his list, despite minimal fragrance. Was his assessment not based at least in part on its performance at the site of his former employment, in NYC? I don't have his book....See MoreAre the newer Kordes roses too vigorous?
Comments (61)For me, she just wasn't that exciting. The blooms weren't that pretty in the summer, the color was kind of harsh, and I didn't care for the fragrance. When Sara Ann, who grows lots of beautiful flowers, said that she had less petals in the summer for her also, I figured I had no chance in my heat! BS wasn't a problem and they weren't ridiculously huge like Savannah and Earth Angel, but just didn't quite deserve the special spots here. I think that she has quite a good reputation though so that's why I didn't give them away. Yet!...See MoreBig box store finds recently
Comments (37)Flower, I went there to look for Boleros. Vole killed the two I bought last year. Have to check out Walmart.. I like to have a few more. I am going to plant Marc Chagall in full sun. I have a huge vole problem here in NY, I lost a lot of roses this past winter, I thought I lost around 30-40 at first, now I keep finding more dead ones while putting wood chips in the garden. I must have an army of voles in my garden. It started a couple years ago, this year is the worst. I have to do something to get rid of this problem. Is Marc Chagall a tender rose? Not planting anymore roses in this garden, getting ready to move. All new roses are in pots. Most of them will be in PA for safety. Dave, I bought all 7 Marc Chagall I found. I think they'd make a nice group of landscaping roses. I am going to HD to check out too. I like Maurice Utrillo , La Petit Prince too. This is bad, we are all rose shopaholics. Lol Did you guys ever watch Confessions of a Shopaholic? Maybe we should start a thread-Confessions of a Rose Shopaholic! :-)...See Morediane_nj 6b/7a
