Home Depot is torturing me......cheap blueberry plants!
Comments (7)i purchased a few at Lowes, and then made a complaint to headquarters for the labelling, there were many with specific variety, but in my haste I chose one with a more generic label, "Rabbiteye Blueberry" and there was a list on the back of 8 varieties to pollinate with. The complaint went to the local store manager, who tracked down the nursery (the nursery decides whats available, not the store..) and found my plant is one of the 8.. They did send this to purchasing & promised to demand proper labelling from the vendors. btw - it's growing well....See MoreFacebook..please help me understand
Comments (11)You can't go back and you can't choose! It's a total pita! When I try and read stuff at the FB page for the local animal shelters, I'll be in the middle of reading and the page will jump and I'll have to scroll back down and find where I was then BOOM it jumps again! It's totally screwed up if you ask me! There is no way to hold the page in place, I tried to hold it with the scroll bar and even that doesn't help any!...See MoreTo torture or not to torture
Comments (20)Hi gang. Two weeks ago Marie suggested an experiment that involved doing this to a seedling: Um..I mean, cutting both ends of a seedling and letting it dry out. Mine disappeared for a few days before I found it on the floor. Remember the way that bottom part looks: it has to be that dry before putting it back in the pot; sealed, of course, with glue. I used wood glue. Then I potted it up in this, right on top of that Christmas ball. Next, this:It only has about a centimeter of its stem under the soil and note that when you water it, the soil will settle down a bit, exposing a little bit more of the stem. Since it has no roots, this means it will have zero support, only friction and gravity holds it in place. This is actually what I wanted because in my experience, once the stem has been exposed, burying it back under the soil often triggers scar tissue to form and it looks unsightly to me. Anyway, to support the barely-potted seedling, you can buttress it with something so it does not move, in this case, lava rocks. In the shade, watered only once and rained on once, we have new growth! Thanks for this, Marie! Pagan P.S. I also did one graft on a 6-month old seedling and it looks like it has taken. You'll know your graft has not failed (yet) when you see the edges of the scion dry up a little bit but there is no gap between it and the stock, indicating that tissue has grown to fuse the two pieces together. The scion will also look quite firm and, well, alive. Eventually, those edges will grow over. That's all folks. Hopefully I don't end up killing either of these things. If you have questions, ask Marie!...See MoreExplain Facebook tagging to me
Comments (3)Tagging does send you a notification but it also puts the video/post/link/etc on your wall. This is the part I don't like. I generally remove tags as soon as they are placed, unless it is a family picture. If you want the tagging to stop, ask your friend to stop. If they won't, unfriend them. You can also change your privacy settings so that you have to approve a tag before it is allowed. You can always remove any tag that someone creates but that will not prevent the article/post appearing on your wall....See MoreIdaClaire
