N MI, WI, MN, ND folks how about gathering, early July?
Comments (15)Greetings northern states folks, I have a get-together of some Canadian former Korea missionaries on June 20 and family reunion (Dad's side - they've had one annually for 110 years) on June 21. Weekend of June 28 is free. But that may be too early for many of you. July 5 is your big holiday weekend. July 12 is Mom's family's get together at my brother's. July 19 is free for me, I'm pretty sure ... but getting close to when I need to be in NC, the following weekend. I'd planned to be back in London before going to NC, but if I were to go direct (which is somewhat closer), that weekend should be O.K. I'm pretty sure that the Korea missionary reunion is the weekend of July 26 in Lake Junaluska, near Asheville, west end of NC, then plan to visit niece in Gainesville, GA, north-east of Atlanta, for a few days, as convenient for them, before returning to London. Possibly visit Pooh Bear along the way, as I did last time, 3 years ago. If meeting some of you as individuals, I'm thinking in terms of a few hours, perhaps meet somewhere for coffee, etc. Possibly overnight, if convenient - I usually travel with sleeping bag, and couch will work ... even a piece of floor (preferably carpeted): I don't have an operable air mattress ... but I'm fairly sure that son may have one that I could borrow. And, of course, I could spring for one! Rumour has it that moths fly out of Ed's wallet when he opens it. Good wishes for an interesting week, with something new happening to keep your interest up ... or should that be, with you doing something new, to add some spice to life (yours as well as others')? ole joyful...See MoreMary Mary Quite Contrary
Comments (15)Harvest??? I'm happy to have plants just producing leaves! Seriously, it's a little early to be harvesting anything here, except for some lettuce, perhaps, which I should have planted earlier than I did. But I'm excited about my vegetables because except for some squash and tomatoes last year these are the first I've grown since Joe and I had to give up the huge vegetable garden we grew for more than 30 years. Soooo . . . I planted lots of yellow crookneck squash, two kinds of zucchini, two kinds of cucumbers, and three kinds of green beans. My "wild and crazy bean experiment" involves my all-time favorite Kentucky Wonder pole beans growing on two stacked tomato cages with string dangling from them to start the vines climbing. My DS shook his head in disbelief when he saw this, but those beans are climbing! I hadn't planned to grow tomatoes this year because I know they increase my joint pain (along with peppers), but after the salmonella scare emerged I thought I should plant some for the kids, at least. So I have three in containers: two Bush Goliath and one Black Cherry. The BC was a gift and will probably get eight feet high and destroy its cage. This should be interesting. Also in containers are Vivian lettuce (a huge romaine) and Swiss chard....See MoreMessage From MarieND
Comments (5)It's a mess here. I can hardly read any posts because the screen keeps rolling and Firefox prevented the site from opening a pop up window but I am still getting all the adds and that survey thing. Pain in the butt. I'll stick with Facebook for now...See MoreMary, Mary, Quite Contrary...
Comments (167)Oakley, American Robin eggs are blue, according to every book and website I have ever seen. There are other types of robins-could those be what you are referring to? The Cornell Lab of Ornithology says this:. "Egg Description: Sky blue or blue-green and unmarked." The Audubon Society agrees: "Usually 4, sometimes 3-7. Pale blue or 'robin's-egg blue.'" eta:. Sites like your link with the photos are not always accurate in their identifications. eta 2: love all the pictures and really, really want a couple of goats!...See Moreginger_st_thomas
