Kitchen backsplash- need ideas/advice please
Comments (21)I agree about using a creamy subway. But I also think it needs a touch of color too. In my kitchen I used white subway with red diamond inserts. But then again, I know I'll always have red accessories. I also have scroll tile and it does add a "pop" to the room. A copper colored insert would be beautiful with your cabs and granite. It doesn't have to be diamond shape either. Below is the website where I ordered our backsplash. They will send you free samples also. The page given is under Porcelain, but they have everything from glass, to metal, in all colors and designs imaginable. They're a bit on the pricey side, but well worth the extra bucks. Here is a link that might be useful: Crossville tile...See MorePlease help! Need advice on backsplash choice
Comments (8)I have Bianco Romano Granite and looked at glass tile ...similar to what you are showing but in a different color...and felt it was much too busy. I want my granite to be the focal point....so with suggestions of many on here...I have finally ordered a soft cream beveled 3x6" Subway tile...just today. I think the beveled with give just enough texture and interest without competing with the granite. And like others have said....sometimes the BS is the hardest to decide upon....so just get your kitchen all put together and then take time to adjust to it....Then pick your BS...seems like many on here wait several months into a yr or longer before making a decision. By the way..your cabinets, floor and granite are all lovely!...See MoreDo I Need BackSplash? Help with Suggestions!
Comments (27)Posted by budgeteer_s (My Page) on Wed, Dec 31, 08 at 18:18 Thanks for all your suggestions. I wanted so much to follow with ci_lantro's suggestion because then I'm done. I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Correction: My tiles were Alfagres: Gema4x4: different from what caryscott posted: I loved what caryscott linked:...See MoreNeed advice please with a backsplash
Comments (20)Removing the 4" back splash won't mess up the counters. It might scuff up the wall just a bit, but it doesn't matter because you are going to cover it back up with a full back splash. Many fabricators like to do a 4" matching back splash because it is easier for them. It means they don't have to do a perfect job of scribing the counters to the walls as they know they can cover any gaps with the 4" back splash. NHBasket, of course you weren't going to change a kitchen you had just completely finished. The question is what did you do when you built your new house? I don't remember the details of your new kitchen, but I'll bet you didn't do a 4" back splash. The OP hasn't tiled yet, so they still have the opportunity to easily remove the 4" and do a cleaner looking all tile back splash....See Moreck_squared
