"Sedge grass" is a bit of an oxymoron. I don't think quinclorac would work on sedges, but I might be wrong, I'd be interested to see where you got that information from. Quinclorac is harmless for TTTF and KBG and is commonly used to kill crabgrass in these lawns. Ortho makes "Nutsedge Killer" which should do the job if you're actually dealing with a sedge.

Not sure where you read about quinclorac. Sedgehammer or Image is what seems to work on sedges. It should not bother real grass.

2-4d won't work on chickweed. Look for Weed b Gon Chickweed, Clover, and Oxalis Killer. It has a different chemical, not 2-4d. I realize that most bottles that contain 2-4d say they will kill chickweed, but the specialty product seems to work better. The label should tell you when you can follow up with other products.

Chickweed germinates in the Fall. Use of a pre-m mid-August should prevent a problem next year.

OP here- there was a nutsedge killer I saw at Lowes over the weekend that was 5% Quinclorac, so that's where I got that from. I didn't pay attention to the other actives in it, so there could be another active in the solution that goes after the nutsedge and the Quinclorac is for the list of other weeds that product targeted. The problem is there was no product that listed both chickweed and nutsedge together. That's what I really wanted. Of course now I think it may not be nutsedge, but orchard grass instead.

I used the 2-4D for the chickweed because that is what I had on hand at the house (waste not, want not) and the label claims it will kill chickweed. I agree that an herbicide that specifically markets itself for chickweed may work a little better; however chickweed was on the list of weeds this product will kill. Herbicides/Pesticides/Sanitizers/Disinfectants are all regulated by the EPA and must produce efficacy data on their labeled claims, so I have to think the Bayer product I used will kill the chickweed, unless I screwed up the application. I should know by next week.

Those Bayer mixes are very diluted and take multiple applications to do the job, which means more money for Bayer. When I was looking into quinclorac for crabgrass control I calculated the Bayer ready to spray product only had 1/3 of the quinclorac other concentrate manufacturers recommend per 1,000 sq ft. Not only does it protect them from idiots overspraying, killing their entire lawn and blaming the company, but since there's not enough to kill the cragrass, just yellow it, people buy another one and another one. It's worthwhile to buy concentrates and mix your own, saves you money too.
