Grandpa Schnabel died

From Discovery Channel's Gold Rush.

I hadn't heard about his passing but did notice that tonights Gold Rush episode was titled Remembering Grandpa Schnabel. Apparently there was some confusion and that episode isn't airing until next week, if I read it right.

I was very sad to hear it. Too bad he was never able to teach Parker how to treat people.

It's going to be aired on Friday April 1st gold rush legends.I loved that man, what a great example for his family, sons, grandsons and everyone watching the show. I think Parker is an amazing young man good grief look what he has accomplished in his very young life. He is learning as he goes, there's no guide book, he knows when he has screwed up and he apologizes and learns from it. I would be extremely proud of him if he was my son. What an accomplished man he is already. Grampa was so very proud of him and vice versa.

I saw Grandpa had passed the other day. Sad. He will be missed.

Parker has some growing to do. I'm not ready to write him off. I think he has a good heart and maybe got power a little too young.

I bought a few trees from Grandpa's Orchard two years ago. Unfortunately, the trees were misplaced and ended up being shipped late. They came with a free Honeycrisp to make up for the later shipping. The apricots that I ordered were huge, very thick trunks. The peach tree died later that year but I'm not sure why. So while their stock is very good, they do have some logistical issues but hopefully they've fixed that now.

Foggy, It would be nice if I could get him to engage because he does complain of loneliness and he misses my mom terribly. Although he visits her every day, she is not there anymore. Most all of his friends have passed on, and he is a quiet, stoic person by nature. He never had any close intimate men friends, did not golf or anything like that. My son is at the age where he is still interested in Grandpa, but he is starting to give up. It's sad, but I guess it is what it is. However, Grandpa is a baseball nut and Jack is in little league this year (the worst team in the league, LOL :) Maybe I can get Grandpa to sit at a game or two with his crossword puzzles to watch? Although, he will probably get upset as Jack is not athletic like Grandpa was in his youth... PS Laurel, my grandma lived with us for many years and she was crippled, couldn't walk. But I do remember sitting on her lap (even at 12, but she was a big lady with a big heart). We would peel apples sprinkle with cinnamon and then eat them together. You are right, sometimes it's the little things you remember the most.

I'm so sorry for you. Please know that your grandmother absolutely is in your life. She's with you, always. You might dream; probably feel her around -- she is! The only thing I can say to substantiate this is -- I know! and will never deviate from my observation and belief because of my own experiences. She has gone on to a really good place, and you are in her thoughts and well wishes. Open up your heart to her and know that she does bring love, I'm absolutely certain.

On Sunday, June 1st, it will be my hubby and my 40th wedding anniversary and the last day I saw my wonderful grandma alive. We went down to her house in our wedding outfits to see her. We called a couple times on our honeymoon to see how she was doing. We came home early so I could see her one last time but she died but we were 30 minutes to late. I still miss her dearly! I would have loved for our 3 children to have known her. She was one of a kind.. I try so hard to be a Grandma like she was.. You are in my thoughts and prayers for days to come. Travel safely. Susie

Tonight was the gold rush show remembering John Schnabel. He was an amazing man. The whole family is pretty darn awesome. If you missed it they are repeating it a few times. Check the Discovery Channel listings.

Parker is going to miss that man something awful.

I held it together pretty well until the very end then balled like a baby. You are right in everything you said about him and the family. Tomorrow I may google his daughters. I'm interested if there were other grandchildren. I would imagine so. Funny they never showed much about his wife either. Some prefer their privacy, though.

I liked grandpa so much. What a sweetheart. Parker on the other hand, ugh, I realized he's just 21, full of piss and vinegar, but he's a little @ss. I would smack him in the mouth if I was his mother. He has a lot of learning to do to become anything close to the man his grandfather was.

A lot of fame and fortune very young, very seldom is that a good combination.
