Other than the obvious, what is the purpose? Do you sit it on your lap? Can you bend the back of the holder to tilt the book back?

I wanted it for reading in bed. Nothing has worked for me so far.

I found another one on ebay I like but its pricey also with postage from AU and its homemade. I wish I could figure out the pattern to make it myself.

I never knew such things existed. It's awkward to read in bed with the ipad, which is heavy to me. It seems the pyramid style would work better with regular books because with the Bookseat the plastic band on the front makes it difficult to turn the pages. Not sure it's easy on the pyramid style, but at least I don't think it has a plastic piece. I might get the pyramid style. Thanks for sharing this, Joann.

socks - no problem turning pages of a real book with the pyramid as the book does not nestle down in the crevice. It rests on the rolled border. My tablet does, but it's stable and not an issue.

I have the pyramid type that my sister gave me for Christmas. I like to use it when reading in bed.

I tried making that one Seagrass and it was a flop. I know I did something wrong. I am making a pattern for the zebra striped one shown above now, I hope it will work. The lady said it was filled with bean bag beans.

Well I spent the day making one, I haven't used it yet but it does hold a book so it should be fine. Its not perfect but a good start.

It worked just great! I even have ideas to improve the pattern. Now to find some bean bag beans.

Yes, they were old jeans. I am using the pocket for a book mark. It works for glasses too! I just ordered some bean bag beans for the next one. If it turns out well its going on eBay. I am happy not to have spent almost $40 to buy it on amazon!

I'm fascinated that you managed to do that, JoAnn! What did you fill it with, regular soup beans would be a little heavy, right? I think you outdid the ones on Amazon!

I used 2 bags of beans in the bottom (still in the bag) and poly-fill in the top part. Its not heavy at all. I even used a pool noodle for the roll part. :^D I think I like it better then the bookseat I almost bought.

Do you put it on a table when reading? Or on your lap while reading in bed? Can't really guess how large this is to figure that out!

Looks great! I made a small one a long time ago for my ereader and someone else made me one for my iPad, a bigger one. You could also fill them with ground up walnut shells that you can get at the pet store if you want weight and heft. Those are also good for pincushions. I've seen patterns for these on Etsy. I'm sure they are on Craftsy, too.

Pammyfay, I use it in bed while I lay on my side. It is 9" high x 9" x 8" wide. It can be used on your lap or a table too. I just haven't done it yet. I think it needs a second pocket. My glasses filled the first one.
