How about an after care product for after your hair is styled? I use an Aveda product called `light elements, smoothing fluid. Also a Frederick Fekkai called Coiff control, ironless straight.

Funny you should say dryer sheets... The Redken Frizz Dismiss has a box of hair smoothers that looks and works just like a dryer sheet.

The Redken Glass was perfect, never failed me - 2 or three drops and I stayed smooth no matter what. They've discontinued it. I'm just now trying their replacement products from a line they call Frizz Dismiss and trying to convince myself I like it as well as the Glass. I have the Smooth Force Lotion (again, just couple of drops in hands worked into towel dried hair) and the 'dryer sheets' (Fly-away Fix).

My hair frizzing is kind of new, I never had trouble with it staying smooth, shiny (fine hair but quite a bit of it) until the gray began to increase. Now if I'm out in the wind, on the beach, even have cleaned the shower and steamed myself up, I have a halo of little curly things sticking out. Little warning though, if you are used to the Suave products you won't like the price of the Redken.

I've found my hair only gets static-y if I don't use conditioner and it's too dry. When I remember to use conditioner every day, no static. That only works if you wash every day, of course. If not, maybe something like rubbing a few drops of coconut oil or argan oil in your hands and running your hands through your hair would help prevent it? Or maybe using mousse?

I have a ceramic base brush that helps a little. When it's windy you brush more and that is my static trigger.

I'm thrifty though so this may not be your cup of tea.

I have a small water bottle that I spray my hair with.

If you want to go low tech, try one or two drops of good smelling oil. Rub between your palms then rub down your hair.

Dryer sheet. Quick and easy. Pureology Color Fanatic leave in Multi Benefit 21 is a great all in one product. For some reason Argon oil and similar product add static to my hair. Redken Outshine 01 Anti Frizz Polishing Milk works well also.

Infusium 23 - squirt a drop or two into your hands and smooth though your hair. I buy at CVS or any drug store. A bottle will last a lifetime.

I simply spray a small bit of Static Guard on my brush and brush it through. Doesn't do anything negative to my hair and it calms the static. Easy peasy.

After I've styled my hair in the morning, I apply a tiny amount of L'Oreal Oleo oil to my hands to smooth the ends and prevent static. Then I don't brush it again the remainder of the day. If I do brush, I get static. If any combing is necessary, I use my fingers. Or if I seem to have bad static later in the day and don't have my hair oil, I put lotion on my hands, rub it in, then lightly touch my hair. I have baby fine hair, and as long as I use a light touch, it doesn't get greasy looking.

petra_gw hit it exactly. Static comes from dryness. The air in your house is dry so a humidifier would help many things. When the air is too dry it can literally damage your house and your hair is telling you it's too dry in there.

Why does laundry have static? Not because people aren't using dryer sheets, it's because they're over-drying their clothes. Cut down the drying time and you'll save money on utilities, save time and lose static. And have one less reason for another unneeded obnoxious smell too. I haven't used dryer sheets in decades and have no static issues.

Get some moisture in your hair and it doesn't have to be grease. Usually people like to wash the grease out of their hair. At least I do! A damp comb or brush will help, even run some very hot water in the sink and put your head over it to get a touch of steam in there to moisten the hair. It'll also help for dry sinuses and put a little moisture into the air that is apparently needed.

I use a product by Chi. It's like an oil, and it really tames my hair. It's the "silk infusions" by Chi. It comes in a tiny little bottle, or a larger bottle. You only need a few drops between both hands then smooth it through your hair. Hair salons use it to smooth your hair.

I like the Fekkai products, so I'll see if I can track the Coiff Control down (Ulta used to sell his stuff, but no longer, at least in my area).

Does the Static Guard leave any weird smell?

I have a small room humidifier in one bedroom, but I guess I'd better learn how to use the whole-house humidifier that works with my heating system!

I do the static guard too. I have very long baby fine hair. I live in Florida so dry air isn't that big of a problem it is more the humidity I think. I spray my hair brush with static guard before I brush my hair and that usually takes care of the problem.
