Comments (53)I think you are asking me? If not....sorry... I will take the tile up cabinet height around my window as there are cabinets on both sides.....I am leaving the rest of the window without trim as I have 2 & 7/8" from cabinet to edge of window...and thought I would put a small trim around it...but then when they put the light rail up there is only 1 & 7/8"..so think it's too small for trim.....What is everyone's opinion? Just found out today...that the guys that was going to do the tile (looks like they work as a team) won't be able to do it until the one that is having knee surgery is able to work ...which could be weeks!! He came today to get paid for all the other work he did...and I asked him if his partner would go ahead and put the tile up.....He is suppose to let me know... Oh well I've waited this long....and really not long at all...so a few more weeks is OK....just anxious to see the kitchen completely finished...now that I finally have the Subway tile sitting in boxes waiting to be installed....See MorePictures please--light cabinets with dark backsplash
Comments (12)Ohhhhh, we haven't decided yet. I've decided I'm better off if I only worry about one thing at a time. Tomorrow is the big day--the Bianco Antico is installed. My DH and I went to the tile store couple of weeks ago. I really like the look of the Kraftmaid ad--the white kitchen with the crystal chandelier--They have a mosaic tile that gives an overall white/creamy look with a little shimmer. I think it really might look great with the granite...of course I'll probably know a little more tomorrow. The tile we were looking at was from Oceanside, 1/2", mosaic blend, in veil. I like Oceansides "straight edge" tiles, rather than the ones that look a little messy. I still love the look of that brown glass subway tile too. I think once the granite is in my house, and my doors are finally back on the cabinets (I have coined a new phrase--Procastination Preparation--it's what you do when you just can't bring yourself to put the last & final coat of paint on the cabinets--I just keep sanding and wiping and fussing....) Anyway--thanks for these links, the one with the bright blue tile really gives the look of the contrasting color, for sure! BTW Redroze, did you know they are looking for you on the Home Decorating forum? Just thought I'd let you know. Here is a link that might be useful: Kraftmaid Ad's backsplash...See MoreHelp Please!!! Dark color granite backsplash
Comments (10)I'm not sure how dark that granite is. From one picture on the web, it looked kind of medium colored. We have a fairly dark granite backsplash and really like it. Our cabinets are natural cherry so they aren't dark. We really like it and we don't find that it makes the kitchen dark. It is less than 18" of the 8' wall height. We did it partly for easy maintenance (no grout), partly because we really like our granite and this features it more, and partly because we liked the continuity. We also used the granite for the window sill and the pass through shelf outside the kitchen (this picture has the temporary black wallplate, I don't have one taken showing the shelf taken after we put in the granite wallplate covers):...See MoreDo I Need BackSplash? Comments (27)Posted by budgeteer_s (My Page) on Wed, Dec 31, 08 at 18:18 Thanks for all your suggestions. I wanted so much to follow with ci_lantro's suggestion because then I'm done. I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Correction: My tiles were Alfagres: Gema4x4: different from what caryscott posted: I loved what caryscott linked:...See Moredaisychain Zn3b
