My Shopping Bargains For Today

Today was our shopping day.

At Fresh Thyme Farmer's Market

Boneless Skinless chicken breasts $1.57 a pound

Asparagus $.97 a pound

Green Cabbage $.25 a pound

Red Radishes $.44 a bunch

USA Tilapia $3.99 a pound

One Dozen large white eggs from Meijer $.97 a dozen, did not buy any of those.

Aldi

Strawberries $1.39 a pound

Chicken thighs $.49 a pound

Milk $1.39 a gallon

Those were my bargains for today.

I want to go shopping with Marilyn too. I see Fresh Thyme is a chain, I was going to say the closest nice farmers market to us won't be open other than weekends until the end of this month...and it's an hour away. We're really short a good local store now with losing our Haggen Top foods to their bankruptcy. Walmart remodeled and added full grocery and there seems to be a wide variety, many choices, of packaged foods, canned, spices etc but I don't buy a lot of those products - I am not impressed with produce, dairy, meats there.

That pretty much leaves Safeway. With this weeks sale I paid 87 cents/pound for whole chickens yesterday. 69 cents/lb for cabbage. Asparagus was $2.99/lb and I passed, didn't buy any. Avocados $1.50 each. Not a real bargain in the basket ;-)

Nicole, I just went back and read through your figures. Wow. You may take the best shoppers award for the day....

MS, you are a super shopper! I got skinless/boneless chicken breasts for $2.99 a pound. For our little town that is a good price, they were an sale regular price 3.99.

I want to go shopping with you. ☺ I did get chicken legs for $.49lb. And white potatoes 10lbs/$2.19. Shared some of those with a relative.

Shirley, who is enjoying a beautiful sunshiny day here in Ohio. Only needed a light weight jacket. That's to change this weekend though.

Stinky, I'm not glamorous by any means, I wish I were. But when I try, I kinda clean up okay. This is a pic just before our daughter's wedding ceremony wearing the MOB outfit. (I wish I had been standing straighter instead of slouching.) Listen, for those of you who are shopping online, I don't know if you've heard of ebates.com. Registration is free. Before you shop online go to the main ebates page and look up the store name. If the store is a participant, you'll be directed to the store website. Shop just as you normally would have and you'll accumulate some % points that translate to cash back. I get a check regularly...not that much, but it's free money I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. You might want to check it out. In this economy, every little bit helps.

I checked the "is it a real Kate Spade" link This is what it said about the made in what country tag on the inside. "Until 2002, the China label simply looked like the little made in Taiwan label " I checked and it does...and the embossed stamp on the outside looks the same...Soooooo....now I'm wanting it even more...LOL...but that's okay....My kids are worth it. patti

We went to Academy sports, they had a great sale price on some very cute short boots. I don't have anything like that anymore. I like them for wearing with my skinny leg pants and jeans. I was trying to decide between a brown pair and a black pair. Hubby said Merry Christmas get both since they are on sale. I mean a girl has to rebuild her shoe collection! So I got both. We needed to replace our good electric knife and they had a $79 one on sale for $29. We got it. The best electric knives are found in the fishing department for filleting fish. Awesome knives. I used to buy the ones you find in kitchen goods, no comparison. One year for Christmas I bought my mom and mother in law each one of them. They were amazed at how much better they were. So if you need a good electric knife go check out the fishing department! Academy has quite a few. Also at academy we both got new slippers. Great price on them. I went to Kohls yesterday. :0) Had a $10 off coupon.

Cuddl Duds flannel Queen Sheets/blue stripe: Reg?$129.99....marked down : $7.50

Henley shirt: $24...marked down: $6

Fleece pajama pants: $34...marked down: $4.80

minus $10 coupon....spent: $8.30....saved...$179.69

Groceries...won't shop until Monday. Marilyn...those are ALL great deals YOU got! I should be so lucky!

WELL DONE!!!! I found leg quarters for 49-cents/pound this week. I try to never spend over $2 per pound for meat, which is getting harder to find, and I have a $10/week meat budget at any cost per pound. I thought I was getting a good deal on cabbage at 44-cents/pound! The best I could do for eggs was $1.88 for 18. I would be absolutely giddy if I could get eggs under $1 a dozen. That might happen Easter week. When eggs are over a $1 per dozen I only buy one dozen per month and use powdered eggs and egg substitutes (chia and flax) for cooking and baking.
