You need to connect the 2 DVRs to the Comcast router using 1 of two methods: 1) Wireless connection 2) Wired connection With the wired connection, you'll run Cat5e or Cat6 through/under/around your house to your router. You'll want wall plates w. the appropriate jacks. This often is a reasonable DIY project. For wireless, you'll want to get 2 wireless access points and a wireless router (if the comcast router is not already wireless). Each DVR will connect locally to an access point. The access points will then connect wirelessly to the router. I would suggest Linksys or D-link as good brands. You can expect to spend ~$300 for two N-band access points and a router if you buy new. Comcast may swap out your router to a wireless one for free if you ask (especially if you mention that you want to spend $$$ on their OnDemand & PPV services). The wireless option will be more expensive in terms of hardware but should be fairly painless.

It's good to understand your skill limitations, although its really not too complicated. Maybe your electrictian can easily do it for you or provide the necessary info so you can do it confidentally. Although grounding the system is technically required by the National Electric Code (NEC), which I think every state has adopted to some degree, I have never seen a new install that meets these requirements. Unfortunately, you would probably be "rolling the dice" again trying to get a DirecTV sub contractor to do it correctly. In the end, it is probably wiser just to make sure its done correctly yourself. Keep educating yourself and you'll save yourself a bunch of time, frustration, and money. I once heard the qoute, "Contractors make money by not doing things they are suppose too". Unfortunately, this is the case far too often as contractors are squeezed to improve efficiency.

My house is being built from grounds up, and currently all the wires and plumbing work is being done. There are no dry walls and I plan on only putting them up after all my wires are in. Let me be more specific to what I am doing and what products I am going with. TVs / Equipment / Setup There would be 3 TVs in my house I had no idea that I can share my Apple TV, cable, etc through an AV Receiver to multiple TVs, so thank you so much for that. I plan on using Yamaha Aventage (RX-A860) which has quite a few HDMI ports (see the back image here) I plan on using Fiber Optic HDMI cable (50 ft) ( this one from Celerity) to ensure that I have reliable long distance connection. I plan on using Harmony Elite for remote usage with their IR mini blaster. I am putting in Cat 6a cables behind every TV and sockets all over the house to ensure I have as many direct cable connections to my smart home equipments. I am hoping to put all my equipments (Apple TV, AV Receiver, Cable etc.) in a cabinet in basement and bring HDMI/Cat 6a wires from all over the house to these cabinets. Questions Bless you for this suggestion, but you're saying that I can share my sources (Apple Tv, etc) with all my 3 TVs? That'd be amazing. So with my AV Receiver I can do it? I think RX-A860 has two zones, should I return it and get a one with three zones? Would AV Receiver be a better option than an HDMI switch / splitter? I am putting in ceiling speakers throughout my house and Im using Sonos Connect:Amp for multiple zones to control them. Would that be good option? What I am hoping to do is future proof my house and have all the cables installed in before any dry wall finalization so that all wires stay hidden. At the end, Each TV would have 2 HDMI (one for AV Receiver in the basement cabinet and one for just in case.) 2 Cat6a (One goes to Chromecast Ultra and one just in case). Run Cat6 to each location BUT - RUN 2 cables to each location, you may want to add additional cameras and cable is cheap and no more costly to pull 2 lines. Be SURE they use quality SHIELDED Cat6 with SOLID copper wire, NOT the cheap CCA coated Cat6 wire. IF you are in an area prone to lighting, run a #6 copper grounding wire from your wiring closet to the grounding rod for your electrical system. Figure out where you will mount your camera NOW. You do NOT want those mounted any higher than 8' off the ground unless you want to look at the top of peoples heads. For cameras FORGET THE NEST, they are garbage, do NOT use all wifi cameras. Don't set up for motion detection only, you want to capture what took place leading up to an incident. Record 24/7. Run POE cameras. I would HIGHLY recommend that you spend some time over on ipcamtalk.com and determine just what you want to purchase. The BEST value in the market for cameras now is the Dahua's. Purchase the right camera for each location, i.e. cameras for the front and rear door are TOTALLY different than the cameras that you want to use in a location to capture video of your front yard or driveway.
