if you are going to do other things in san diego you should look for a city pass card if they have one. we went to atlanta last labor day for a week and dh & i used city passes for something like $65 ea and used it for the High Museum, GA aquarium, botanical garden, fernbank natural history museum & zoo. it was a bargain! we're going back to atlanta just before thanksgiving to do it all over again. those prices you quoted thou seem on par. heck we pay $65 each for seaworld and way more for disney and we're fl residents. zoos are one of my favorite travel stops, i intend to see almost every good sized one in this country along w/ most aquariums before i die. i grew up going to brookfield zoo in the chicago burbs and i think it's close to $45-50 each and well worth it but it would take 2 days to see everything. san diego is on my list to see again, i went as a child in the 70's and loved it. we recently went to the central fl zoo, we've been here for more than 10+ yrs and never went. it was cheap and barely took 2 hrs and not anything to talk about lol. search around for city passes, they are well worth it ~ liz

Bpathome - Yes, there is a cordon, aka boundary, or eruv in Hebrew. I checked it online and it forms a perfect rectangle, unusual for an eruv. Other neighborhoods in Chicago also have them, as well as - am sure you know - many other places in the States and worldwide. I agree about the day of rest. No school trip for me and my fellow students. We were lucky to get a graduation ceremony. If you played a competitive sport or played in the band, you'd get to ride the team bus to games. I did get three trips in high school due to science projects. The first one was a butterfly collection, 2nd was a phono oscillator that had a range of nearly 1/4 mile - had to be careful which frequency I broadcast with on that one - and for the 3rd one, I converter the phono oscillator into 5 tube superhet AM radio. For each of the three, my science teacher used his personal car to provide transportation. At the regional fair, I snagged a first place rating with the 3rd item and was entitled to compete at the state fair. Again, my science teacher came through. He arranged the trip and again, he used his car. We stayed at his brother's house; It required most of a day to get there. While there, his brother drove us to a couple of places in his Hupmobile. Yes folks, I have ridden in a Hupmobile! This was my class trip in 1954.

I see you need to have the last word on something you're not part of, Elmer. We are NOT with Kaiser because it's the least expensive; we stay because we like our docs and our care. I'm certainly not going to go into personal experiences here but it's not fair of you to dish an hmo you have never had any part of, and with which many, many people are very happy. I suspect you have closer to concierge care, which this is not, but Kaiser works great for hundreds of thousands of people. It is an example of how a single-payer system works, and works well. We have all heard many non-Kaiser stories of incompetent docs and very long wait times. Our wait times appear to us to be far shorter than friends on other plans, even Stanford plans. :) Chisue, I have to disagree with you on the idea that there would be more jobs if employers didn't have to help subsidize healthcare. If recent history has taught us anything, it's that big business is all about keeping as much profit as possible. (Small businesses are a different story and I'm sorry when I see news articles not make the differentiation.) I believe if large businesses thought they could get away with not helping with insurance costs, they would do it in a heartbeat. The only answer is government-sponsered health care, again, as is done in every other economically viable country. Profit must be taken out of the equation, or there will continue to be a growing chasm between those who receive healthcare, and those who do not.
