What kind of Washer for 2nd floor of old house 1894 wood floor
Comments (13)I briefly owned a Bosch FLer that caused vibration problems. My laundry room is on the first floor, over a basement. The placement is such that the two rear legs are directly above the main support beam in the house. As it turns out, my floor is too flexible for a Fler. As I was unwilling to spend the kind of money that would be needed to fix this and still look good, I returned it and got the Whirlpool Cabrio HE. So far I love it, I have not had any problems with the laundry, and there are no vibrations even on high speed spin. I was afraid to get this at first because of stories I have read, but I am so glad I tried it. My salesman wanted me to try the Duet FLer to see what would happen, and said he would change it out again if that caused vibrations, but I was getting really tired of waiting for deliveries and pick-ups (my first front loader had a problem and had to be replaced). Good luck, let us know what you decide and how it works out for you. Just make sure that the store you purchase at is willing to exchange if there is a vibration problem, and that they will not charge you for restocking or delivery of another machine....See MoreFL, suppress vibration, good or bad?
Comments (16)Again, saying the "level" thing is no big deal other than nominal. From your post, you've clearly paid careful attention to that. You may safely remove it from your worries at this point. Your bearings are fine and will remain fine....unless you beat them to death....and probably even then. You don't need to get to the rear legs. A plane is defined by three points. Adjust the fourth -- one of the front legs -- to compliment/coincide -- is all that's left. The "foam trick" may well help. May even save the situation if nothing else works. On the other hand, you've got a a good, expensive, well-designed machine in place there. A machine that may not have been properly installed. A machine that may not be able to perform as it was designed because it's components may not be able bear as they were designed to do. Inasmuch as determining that takes a matter of minutes and very little skill, I would certainly start there. If that doesn't work in your stacked situation on your suspended floor, then I guess you'll have to do something else. Only saying unless this much is done first, neither you nor anyone else will know what you're actually dealing with. If you've done everything possible to allow the machine's suspension to do everything it's capable of doing -- which is a lot, by the way -- and it STILL is not satisfactory then that's where other considerations should begin. Stacking adds potential issues. Suspended flooring adds potential issues. Just suggesting one step at a time. Would be interested in learning your outcome if you would be so kind as to return and report....See MoreNeed help purchasing FL washer/dryer
Comments (11)Sarah, we had to replace our washer and dryer this summer and wound up picking the LG. Mine are downstairs on tile over a concrete slab, but once the leveling was adjusted a little, they are almost motionless and quiet. I don't think you'd have any problem with them on the second floor. Ours are on pedestals and still no motion. The only issue I have had is that for some reason, some tomato based stains haven't come out as well. I'm not sure if that's the machine, detergent or what, but someone suggested some vinegar, adn that did the trick -- either directly on the spot or in the machine's fabric softener dispenser. On the other hand, I've been very pleased with the cleaning of everything else (and those shirts now that we know the trick). Our white sheets and towels are whiter and I really like the sanitary cycle. It runs longer, but it's so quiet, it doesn't bother me. There is a quick wash that runs in about 20 min. That comes in handy when one of the boys forgets gym clothes or a band shirt, etc. I don't think I ever saw your kitchen finished -- just some progress and near done shots. Hope that all went well....See MoreNeed washer recommendations for a 2nd fl laundry room
Comments (16)OMG! I'm so happy to have a working washer/dryer!!! Lowe's delivered a week ago and I'm still trying to catch up on my deferred laundry piles. LOL I said I would report back after my Samsungs were delivered. After only a week, I have to say that I am loving my SAMSUNG set. My laundry room is on the second floor and I was very worried about vibration issues. Verdict-the washer hasn't moved an inch. We didn't even have to fuss with the leveling much during the installation. I feel confident saying that this machine is an excellent choice for a second floor front loader. My loads thus far have been pretty typical - no bath mats or blankets which might be a bit more challenging. I'll have to report back on those later. My clothes seem cleaner and because they come out of the washer pretty well wrung out, the drying cycles take less time than the washing cycles. The machines are really a pleasure to operate. They are so attractive and I really like the chimes, etc... It just feels like such an upgrade from my basic white Maytag top loader set. On a side note: I purchased FloodChek hoses (which are supposed to be superior to the steel braided ones) and one of the hoses leaked!! I was very disappointed! I had to run out to Lowes and buy one of the steel braided hoses until I can get a replacement for the flawed FloodChek....See MorePage W.
