Would You Ever Send A Man Roses?
Comments (91)Yes Devon I saw you used my picture of a bouquet of Eden roses. I also like the other roses you chose especially brass band and Disneyland. It is getting fall here in Denmark and I have been working my butt off all summer creating gardens for a number of clients. I am really getting better all the time at designing and creating beautiful gardens. People have so much money since the economy is booming and many are willing to spend $5.000 - $40.000 on their gardens since they all had new kitchens and bathrooms. The new status symbol over here are beautiful gardens. Oh Alida I wonder how your Husband would take react if another man send you flowers. It is also interesting to hear the term: When flowers are called for. Seems we call a lot more over here!!! LOL But flowers are much cheaper over here too. If I send flowers to some in US I often pay 80-100 dollars and they are not getting much :-( and most often don´t even get the colour of roses I ordered right (Mostly I give White Roses and Lilies). I once bought some relatives to a friend I was traveling with In Las Vegas Some red Roses Since she like them so much. Later that day her husband came home with 12 red roses too. And when He saw that I had given her 24 huge Red Roses in a big vase in the living room, there was a moment of embarrassment..... So I never give red roses anymore to someone (man or woman) unless I really MEAN it. White or pink roses would have been better ... I think? Lavenderrose: I think it is too early to recommend Lady Emma Hamilton. I grow it and find it is a strange roses since the leaves and buds(sepals) are so dark!!! almost blackish green and brown: I was also surprised that it was not darker, I had expected a more warm apricot colour, but mine have almost the same colour as Jude The Obcure, but are pale pink on the outer petals. Fragrance is similiar to Jude the Obscure, but it is not as strong. One of the best bright coloured golden yellow roses ever are Golden Celebration. If I only had room for one yellow that would be my choice, since it is easy to grow succesfully. It a big beautiful yellow rose!!! With a better scent than LEH. It will get big probably 6 feet tall and 4 -5 feet wide in your area. And I like it better as a cutting rose Than LEH: (This photo is bad quality because it a scan of picture ...from the pre digital camera period) Michelle: Teasing Georgia is extremely vigorous too, it even gets huge here. But The Generous Gardener is a real climber. Seattlesuze: I am happy that you have a sense of humor and don´t take things to seriously. I was really thinking the same ...people on a rose forum who do not like to get roses???? Now thats peculiar!...See MoreDecorating Memory Care Studio for Mom
Comments (57)My mom became the best BS'er up until this last month and even though she couldn't carry or start the conversation she had her way of making you do so without realizing she didn't have a clue what was being talked about. Most anyone that met her for the 1st time was surprised that she had Alzheimer's even though seconds later she wouldn't remember them or the conversation. My sister's and I chuckle about this as we now wonder how much she BS'd before the disease as we never knew her to do this and especially so well! And then there was the day my high styling mom who always had her make-up on before anyone got up in the morning in her other life was asked if she would like a bib during her meal and she gleefully said "yes" rather than the glare they would have gotten before, My sisters and I figure she saw all the other residents with one on and she wasn't going to let her peers out style her-lol... This is a horrible disease on so many levels. My mom's 3 siblings and mother had it. I have more friends than not that either they have a spouse or parent that have it or have died with it. And since this disease is different for each individual and your road may be different than the path I'm on, the best thing you can do is educate yourself (so you don't beat yourself up), find a support group especially if you do not have other family members to support/share this, give her lots of love, have an open mind, be flexible, take what humor you can out of the situation and be the best advocate you can for her....See MoreAmy greenhouse tips
Comments (71)Amy, at least we know we are crazy and no one has to prove that right.lol We must be the only ones in our neighborhoods with lighst at night, running in and out with our trees at night, and while everyone has brown trees, bare ones and brown grass, our green gems still add life to our yards. lol. The only reall green things growing in my yard are my trees and plants that come inside. I will post you a pic in a bit. Yes, keep they dry and cold. They will pop flowers, watch) I hope you are doing ok these days. I worry about you at times. Brian, I have been meaning to thank you for explaining how you hang your lights. Quite a feat I'd say and once they are on, I'll bet you just love it! So much light well after dark while everyone is inside being depressed while you can go out there and feel like you are in a warmer climate to get us through the bitter winters. I don't think I could ever give up my greenhouse unless I am forced to. I hope that day nveres comes buddy. Hugs By the way, beautiful weather here today. I have still yet to get a frost. They had to cancel the fair for the first time in history due to mosquitos and thriple E, Today it is almost 70 and yet all my trees are still outside. They are loving that I tell you buddy. I don't even see a frost in the next ten days)))) Sunshine, you always bring me sunshine. How have you been? How's your set up? You are so sweet and a very important part of our frienships here. I've missed you) Bob, you are always full of good ideas. Between you and Steve, we have a couple of guineses here! Thank you for always trying to make our growing experiences a bit easier. Comments (29)"I’m clearly not great at reading swatches because this will be the FOURTH try of painting the whole room!" Painting a whole room to only be disappointed with the result must be terribly discouraging. I suggested it above but will do it again: consider an on-site paint colour consultation. In my area, it's below $100 for an hour. When you factor in your time mulling over the colour possibilities, buying various samples and your time to prep and paint the room, I say it's well worth the expense. Two friends used the service and they've been living happily with the recommendations for over 5 years now....See MoreTB ID
