Climbing Eden rose hardiness?
Comments (3)Not a good idea. It will winter kill to the ground and is never going to be as vigorous as you want. Climbing roses are a real problem in Zone 5 but you might want to take a look at Quadra. Iron-clad hardy, rather nice clear red flowers - no fragrance. Or any of the Canadian shrubs such as William Baffin. Or a once blooming rambler - De la Grifferia or Vielchenblau or...... I'm growing something called White Mountains (put out by the Univ. of New Hampshire) that is enormous and iron=clad hardy - cluster of small white flowers opening from blush pink buds....See MoreIs this a good deal? PIP Eden climber 4" pot $20?
Comments (7)I have to agree with mad and hoovb, that's a very tiny plant to try and winter over in zone 5. It's too small to plant out and even wintering it in a pot would be iffy. And don't try to bring it inside. While I have heard of people doing it I've never successfully kept a rose inside the house over an entire winter. Household climates are rarely conducive to happy healthy rose growth. I'd either wait until next spring or order something from a nursery for spring delivery. Besides, this is a newer variety and will probably be available locally next spring....See MorePretty in Pink Eden
Comments (25)@Tiffanddrew-So.CA/9b how is your pretty in pink Eden looking and doing??? I’m super curious to see what it looks like… Because I just recently purchased a Pretty Pink Eden… That looks very similar to yours with the bigger more open blooms instead of the really dense petal packed Cupped Blooms that I often see with pretty in pink Eden. I was hoping that the reaaon that the blooms looked like this was just because it was a brand new young plant . As you can see the blooms looked so different and has less petals and less of a cupped bloom form. Mine looks very similar to yours. Did the blooms on your pretty in pink Eden ever become more densely packed with petals and cupped... i’m hoping that as it matures it will look more like what the standard of a pretty in pink Eden should look like. Here are some pics of my PIP Eden....See MorePincushion and Pretty in Pink Eden
Comments (16)Eden notoriously takes a long time to establish herself and start blooming well. At least, that's been true for a lot of us. I hope this doesn't discourage you, but 2 of mine took 4 years, but that 4th year was great with a huge first flush, then almost constant bloom thereafter. Another one only took 3 years and it bloomed non stop all summer. Two other 4 yr olds have never bloomed. If you're in zone 6 or above, you will have blooms sooner and more of them than I get here. She's worth waiting on, in my opinion....See Moreflowersaremusic z5 Eastern WA
