Anyone grow wollerton old hall , heathcliff or tranquility ?
Comments (3)My Heathcliff did nothing all summer and I was convinced that it was a dud. Then the cool nights came along and it has exploded with many big, luscious, well formed, long lasting blooms. Now that it's blooming it tolerates high daytime temps well. It's a neat, compact, healthy plant so far, not especially bushy, good clean foliage. The color is much pinker than I hoped, though it's a rich color and complements Boscobel quite nicely. I should note that reds in my garden tend toward pink and I've also experienced that many of my red/crimson roses are decidedly pink in their first year and darker up as they mature. This has been particularly true of the DA reds....See MoreWeird blooms on David Austin Boscobel rose
Comments (5)It doesn't look like insect damage close up, I did have them sprayed a few weeks ago for aphids and had to cut them down a bit (but they were mostly on the older bushes). I didn't spray Roundup, although I have a landscaper that may have (but I doubt it)... it does look closest to that kind of damage though after a quick google search. It is a bit weird as it is only most of the plant that's affected... there are one or two canes that look normal on one side of it, and then the rest is growing in looking weird and... frizzy, for lack of a better word! Doesn't look like rose rosette and no white mildew... also this bush is right next to the two healthy ones, I just planted them all this year as bare root roses. Could it be something toxic in the soil just right in that spot?? paulieinct, did your rose come back from the roundup damage?...See MoreDo you grow royal jubilee ?
Comments (7)One of my favorite DA roses, it wants to be a small climber, doesnt like the heat. So i moved them around.. One i dug up and put it in a pot in the fall another I moved to a shady spot and the other two gets afternoon shade. I had started a thread last year when I got RJ and kinda kept adding to the thread on its growth through the year. http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/3832887/austin-royal-jubilee I personally love the fragrance and bloom form. Below are pictures from this year so far....See MoreDavid Austin’s in pots
Comments (91)If you want a fluffy pink, have you considered Princess Alexandra of Kent? She's about 3.5 x 2.5 and, according to David Austin, has a "delicious fresh tea fragrance with aspects of lemon and blackcurrants." Princess Alexandra of Kent I wouldn't know since I do not grow her, but if I had any space left open, I would definitely plant her in my garden. Austin adds that she is highly fragrant and very healthy also and "ideal for pots and containers." Really BIG blooms, I'm told. Kate...See MorePatty W. zone 5a Illinois
