What to do about damaged limb?

Daddy Cat

Hi. A workman's trailer backed into one of our street trees. About a six foot limb was sheared off. As you can see by the pictures another limb forks away from the damaged part. In the second picture the red arrow illustrates the sheared off limb, and the green shows the remaining section.

What should I do, if anything, about this? Apply something to the exposed / damaged part? Cut it off at the trunk? The limb illustrated by the green arrow is quite robust and represents a pretty good chunk, maybe 20-25% of the tree. I'd hate to lose it, but would obviously cut it for the sake of the tree.
