What to do about Cypress Bark damage?

I have a four or five foot tall cupressus glabra with some bark damage, looks like a little notch cut into the bark. Being that it's winter and relatively damp out, should I worry about applying fungicide to the wound or simply leave it be? Wound is about two inches tall by two inches wide, doesn't seem to be too deep, but it's the surface layer that seems to count, bright green is exposed so I'm guessing it's struck past the cork cambium.
