You'd think they'd want to feature some hard to obtain native Texas plants.

I agree Linda. I've been burned buying plants from them that were too tropical for this area.

Both of you live in colder areas now. There is such a difference between the country to the north and the city heat dome.. There is a big difference between downtown austin and my area . I can only imagine the difference between Spring Branch and points west and down town San Antonio.

The Botanical Garden plant sale is on and goes until tomorrow, the 18th. Has anyone attended? If so tell us what you bought ... :-)

The spotted leaves on the saundersii might be the difference (based on the picture I looked at). I have 2 nutans that have the same flower but one has very narrow leaves and much more miniature flower and one is the typical wider leaf with the bigger flower. The small leafed one is like a mini-me of the big leafed one.

I didn't go this year, but if I had I would have gotten Purple porterweed , which I've bought there before. It's an annual and will reseed, but this year they are coming up in all the wrong places and the one I tried to transplant didn't make it.

For me it make a neat dark green mound in all day hot sun and the butterflies love it.

Ooooh, that's pretty! (I had to google it but I saw all the images with hummers in the pics.) I wonder if it's available anywhere else locally? The ladies at the sale site were so helpful and even brought around a wagon for me to fill up. Of course, I couldn't because DH was with me and he reminded me that we were with friends. They sat and had tea and dessert after our walk through the gardens and I ran over to give a quick look at the sale. I bought one other plant, brought it home, and promptly lost the tag. I probably buried it in the ground... bummer!
