Comments (26)People need to be very, very careful about ingesting products which can cause them serious illness. Just last Friday afternoon, I was out in the garden and foolishly touched the compost heap with my bare fingers. Then, without thinking, I took out a cigarette, lit it, and smoked it. Not realizing I had just put billions of microbes to my lips, where they would soon stealthily attack my vulnerable immune system. Later that evening, I began to notice every one of the classic signs and symptoms of botulism as described on Linda_lou's CDC link: "double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, or muscle weakness." Growing alarmed, I considered calling the local poison control centre, revising my last will & testament, or just surrendering to fate and waiting for my inevitable demise. Then suddenly I realized the symptoms were more likely a result of the half-dozen Sleeman's Honey Brown I'd consumed. So, I opened another bottle. It was good. WARNING: Do not consume Sleeman's in excess. Avoid operating heavy machinery while consuming Sleeman's. Product may lead to unexpected declarations of undying affection for romantic partners, family members, old friends, and pets. Discontinue consumption of Sleeman's promptly if unconsciousness results. Sleeman's is not a toy, and should not be given to young children under any circumstances. All the best, -Patrick (personally, I worry more about bee stings. and lightning.) Here is a link that might be useful: Sleeman's, a fine Canadian beer...See MoreBotox for an Eight Year Old?!!!
Comments (26)I feel so sorry for this young girl. Psychologically abused. Her mother for so many years basically telling her she isn't pretty unless she does all this yucky stuff. doing all this stuff to make her able to "win and be beautiful" is telling her she is ugly and not good enough for anything. That she isn't smart, and now, the state is telling her that her mother is a whacko and is doing bad things to her. That her mom is a criminal. (which mom is by the way, but hard for such a young girl to understand it) I hope they can get the child some therapy and she is able to have a normal childhood and life....See MoreSmall kitchen/question about counter material
Comments (51)Wow, what a surprise to see this thread at the top of the page. Very bittersweet, because my last post mentions my husband's plans for the tops. He unexpectedly passed away just a couple of months later--how I wish he was still here. My brother graciously volunteered to help me with the tops. He cut them after I templated, then I finished the sanding, buffing, installation, runnels and seams. Coincidentally, I just finished cleaning the tops in anticipation of a family celebration planned for this Sunday. I polish with a cloth saturated with mineral oil, then buff off the excess. Makes them shine like new! They are holding up well--I don't notice any damage or wear, and I sometimes put (semi-)hot pots down beside the stove, although I wouldn't put a large, really hot baking dish from the oven. One casualty though--my DD dropped the lid to a china tea pot. The lid shattered, but no damage to the counter. I'm linking my kitchen album, starting with the pics of the counter top, and also the album that has info on the runnels. If you click on my user-name you can find all my albums, as well as my kitchen threads. houstoncrafter, best of luck!! I haven't been on GW much lately, as I've had some other projects to do, but feel free to email me if you need some hand-holding. :) Kitchen/lab top pics DIY Runnels...See MoreSkin Cancer question
Comments (20)Isitdoneyet, the article was an eye opener. After viewing pictures of them I'm about 100% certain that's what it is. His isn't very noticeable like I saw in the pictures though, but still had the same description of AK's. you see in pictures. Maire, the physician's office called in and then the dermatologist's office called DH a couple of days later. I've never had to wait more than a week to see a specialist when my doctor's office calls it in. Lynn, I wasn't worried until I read that having AK on the head (bald area) is really bad, can even spread to the brain. I need to find more info on that. Plus, once you get it you are more than likely to keep getting it which means there's a good chance it will turn in to melanoma. Gscience, the spot isn't like that, but I often get tan like age spots that I can scrape off with my fingernail , mostly on my legs and upper arms. I had a doctor look at one about ten years ago and he said it wasn't cancer. Can you scrape them off? You all have been great with information. I'll definitely keep you informed....See MoreUser
