Topdress for germination: peat moss? Leaf compost? Food compost?

I dormant overseeded the lawn this winter. Thinking of topdressing to help with moisture retention/germination this spring. Without considering the environmental issues (which I have researched), which topdress will help the most with germination? And are any of these topdressing long-term problems for the lawn, as I have heard maybe be an issue with peat moss?

I have access to peat moss, leaf compost, and food compost. I'd only use peat if it were clearly the best. Soil is clay with pH of 6.7. Lawn is mostly fescue with some KBG and perennial ryegrass. I plan to use a topdressing roller/peat moss spreader and aiming for a very thin layer.
